सप्तजन्मकृतात्पापान्मुच्यन्ते नात्र संशयः
From sins committed in seven births, one is freed—of this there is no doubt.
स स्नातः सर्वतीर्थेषु सर्वपापात्प्रमुच्यते
He who has bathed in all holy places is freed from all sins.
दर्शनान्मुच्यते पापादिति वेदे निरूपितम्
By seeing, one is freed from sins—so it is declared in the Veda.
प्रियाः प्राणाधिका विष्णोर्ये विप्रा हरिसेविनः 4.21.
Those brāhmaṇas who serve Hari are dearer to Viṣṇu than life itself.
येषां पादाब्जरजसा सद्यः पूता वसुन्धरा
By the dust of whose lotus feet the earth is instantly purified.
तेषां च स्पर्शमात्रेण तीर्थपापं प्रणश्यति
By merely touching them, the sin of holy places is destroyed.
दर्शनात्स्पर्शनाच्चैव सर्वपापात्प्रमुच्यते
By seeing or touching him, one is freed from all sins.
हरिदासस्य विप्रस्य तत्पुण्यं दर्शनाल्लभेत्
By seeing that Brahmin devotee of Hari, one attains his merit.
उच्छिष्टभोजनात्तेषां हरेर्दास्यं लभेन्नरः
By eating the remnants of their food, a person attains servitude to Hari.
पुरीषसदृशं वस्तु जलं मूत्रसमं भवेत्
A thing is like excrement, and water is like urine.
(तु. ब्रह्मवैवर्त २.१०.४९) आमान्नं हरये दत्त्वा कृत्वा पाकं च खादति
Having offered uncooked food to Hari, then cooking and eating it—
अधिकारो न शूद्राणां हरेरप्यर्चने तथा
There is no authority for Śūdras even in the worship of Hari.
भस्मीभूतानि सर्वाणि भविष्यन्ति न संशयः
All will be reduced to ashes, there is no doubt.
दत्त्वा विशिष्टजीवेभ्यो विशिष्टं फलमाप्नुयात् 4.21.
By giving to those who are distinguished by life, one attains a distinguished result.
शूद्राणां द्विगुणं पुण्यं वैश्येभ्योऽन्नं प्रदाय च क्षत्त्रियाणां शतगुणं विप्रेभ्योऽन्नं प्रदाय च
By giving food to Śūdras, one gains twice the merit; by giving to Vaiśyas, and by giving food to Kṣatriyas, one gains a hundred times; by giving to Brahmins—
विप्राणां च शतगुणं शास्त्रज्ञे ब्राह्मणे फलम्
And for Brahmins, the result is a hundredfold when the Brahmin is learned in the scriptures.
स चान्नं हरये दत्त्वा भुङ्क्ते भक्त्या च सादरम्
He, having offered food to Hari, eats it with devotion and respect.
तत्फलं लभते नूनं भक्तब्राह्मणभोजने
He surely attains that result by feeding devoted Brahmins.
भवन्ति सिद्धाः शाखाश्च यथा मूलनिषेचनात्
Branches and shoots flourish just as when the root is watered.
सर्वे देवाश्च रुष्टाश्चेद्देवैः कः किं करिष्यति
If all the gods are angry, what can anyone do with the gods?
गा वर्धयति नित्यं यस्तेन गोवर्धनः स्मृतः
He who always increases the cows is called Govardhana.
नित्यं ददाति गोभ्यो यो नवीनानि तृणानि च
He who always gives new grasses to the cows—
सर्वव्रतोपवासेषु सर्वेष्वेव तपःसु च
In all vows, fasts, and all austerities—
भुवः पर्यटने यत्तु सर्ववाक्येषु यद्भवेत् 4.21.
Whatever exists in the wandering of the earth, and in all words—
तत्पुण्यं लभते प्राज्ञो गोभ्यो दत्त्वा तृणानि च
A wise person attains that merit by giving grass to cows.
ब्रह्महत्या भवेत्तस्य प्रायश्चित्ताद्विशुध्यति
He incurs the sin of killing a Brahmin, but is purified through atonement.
तद्गुह्येषु स्वयं लक्ष्मीस्तिष्ठत्येव सदा पितः
In those secret places, O father, Lakshmi herself always abides.
तीर्थस्नातो भवेत्सद्यो जयस्तस्य पदेपदे
He immediately becomes as if bathed at a holy place, and victory is his at every step.
प्राणांस्त्यक्ता नरस्तत्र सद्यो मुक्तो भवेद्ध्रुवम्
If a man gives up his life there, he is instantly and certainly liberated.
ब्रह्महत्यासमं पापं भवेत्तस्य न संशयः
There is no doubt that the sin incurred is equal to Brahmin-murder.
