जगाम श्रीहरिर्गेहं कालयित्वा च गोकुलम्
After spending time in Gokula, Shri Hari returned home.
एवं चकार भगवान्वर्षमेकं च प्रत्यहम्
In this way, the Blessed Lord did so every day for a year.
ब्रह्मा प्रभावं विज्ञाय लज्जानम्रात्मकन्धरः
Realizing the power of Brahma, he bowed his head in shame.
ददर्श कृष्णं तत्रैव गोपालगणवेष्टितम्
There he saw Krishna, surrounded by groups of cowherd boys.
रत्नसिंहासनस्थं च हसन्तं सस्मितं मुदा
He saw him seated on a jeweled throne, smiling joyfully.
रत्नकेयूरवलयरत्नमञ्जीररञ्जितम् 4.20.
He was adorned with jeweled armlets, bracelets, and anklets.
कोटिकन्दर्पलावण्यं लीलाधाममनोहरम्
He possessed beauty surpassing millions of Cupids, enchanting as the abode of play.
पारिजातप्रसूनानां मालाजालैर्विभूषितम्
He was decorated with garlands made of clusters of parijata flowers.
मालतीमाल्यसंयुक्तं मयूरपिच्छचूडकम्
He wore a garland of jasmine and a peacock feather on his head.
शरत्पार्वणचन्द्रस्य प्रभामुष्टास्यसुन्दरम्
His face was lovely, stealing the radiance of the autumn full moon.
शरन्मध्याह्नपद्मानां प्रभामोचनलोचनम्
His eyes dispelled the brilliance of autumn midday lotuses.
कौस्तुभेन मणीन्द्रेण वक्षःस्थलसमुज्ज्वलम्
His chest shone brilliantly with the Kaustubha, the foremost of jewels.
एवंभूतं प्रभुं दृष्ट्वा प्रणनामातिविस्मितः
Seeing the Lord in this form, he bowed down, utterly astonished.
यद्दृष्टं हृदयाम्भोजे तद्रूपं बहिरेव च
The very form he had seen in the lotus of his heart appeared before him.
तत्र वृन्दावने सर्वं दृष्ट्वा कृष्णसमं मुने
O sage, there in Vrindavan, he saw everything as equal to Krishna.
गावो वत्साश्च बालाश्च लतागुल्माश्च वीरुधः 4.20.
Cows, calves, boys, creepers, bushes, and plants—
दृष्ट्वैवं परमाश्चर्यं पुनर्ध्यानं चकार ह
Seeing such supreme wonder, he again entered into meditation.
क्व च वृक्षः क्व वा शैलः क्व मही क्व च सागराः
Where is the tree, where the mountain, where the earth, and where the oceans?
क्व चात्मा क्व जगद्बीजं क्व स्वर्गः क्वायमेव च
Where is the self, where is the seed of the universe, where is heaven, and where is this world itself?
क्व कृष्णो जगतां नाथः क्व वा मायाविभूतयः
Where is Krishna, the Lord of all worlds, and where are the powers of his illusion?
किं स्तौमि किं करोमीति मनसैवं प्रगृह्य च
What shall I praise, what shall I do—thus reflecting in his mind,
सुखं योगासनं कृत्वा बभूव संपुटाञ्जलिः
He sat comfortably in a yogic posture, with his hands joined in reverence.
इडां सुषुम्नां मध्यां च पिङ्गलां नलिनीं धुराम्
He fixed his attention on the iḍā, suṣumnā, piṅgalā, the lotus, and the support (of the body).
मूलाधारं स्वाधिष्ठानं मणिपूरं मनोहरम्
The mūlādhāra, svādhiṣṭhāna, and the delightful maṇipūra (centers),
लङ्घनं कारयित्वा च तत्षट्चक्रं क्रमाद्विधिः
Having caused the energy to rise, he traversed the six chakras in order, as prescribed.
निबध्य वायुं मध्यां तामानीय हृदयाम्बुजम् 4.20.
Restraining the breath in the middle, he drew it to the lotus of the heart.
एवं कृत्वा तु निष्पन्दो यो दत्तो हरिणा पुरा
Having done so, he became motionless, as was once taught by Hari.
मुहूर्तं च जपं कृत्वा ध्यायंध्यायं पदाम्बुजम्
Chanting for a moment, he meditated again and again on the lotus feet.
तत्तेजसोऽन्तरे रूपमतीव सुमनोहरम्
Within that radiance appeared a form of surpassing beauty.
श्रुतिमूलस्थलन्यस्तज्वलन्मकरकुण्डलम्
With blazing makara earrings set at the base of the ears,
