प्रणाशं मेनिरे सर्वे भयमापुश्च संकटे बाला गोप्यश्च संत्रस्ता भक्तिनम्रात्मकन्धराः
All thought destruction was certain and were seized by fear in that peril; the children and the cowherd women, terrified, bowed their heads in devotion.
तथा रक्षां कुरु पुनर्दावाग्नेर्मधुसूदन
Thus, protect us again from the forest fire, O Madhusudana.
स्रष्टा पाता च संहर्ता जगतां च जगत्पते
O Lord of the universe, you are the creator, the sustainer, and the destroyer of all worlds.
यमः कुबेरः पवन ईशानाद्याश्च देवताः
Yama, Kubera, Vayu, Ishana, and the other deities,
मानवाश्च तथा दैत्या यक्षराक्षसकिंनराः
humans, as well as demons, yakshas, rakshasas, and kinnaras,
आविर्भावस्तिरोभावः सर्वेषां च तथेच्छया
the appearance and disappearance of all beings occur according to your will.
वयं त्वां शरणं यामो रक्ष नः शरणागतान्
We take refuge in you; protect us who have come to you for shelter.
दूरीभूतस्तु दावाग्निः श्रीकृष्णामृतदृष्टितः
The forest fire is driven far away by the nectar-like sight of Shri Krishna.
सर्वापदः प्रणश्यन्ति हरिस्मरणमात्रतः 4.19.
All calamities are destroyed merely by the remembrance of Hari.
वह्नितो न भवेत्तस्य भयं जन्मनि जन्मनि
For such a person, there is no fear of fire, birth after birth.
स्तोत्रमेतत्पठित्वा तु मुच्यते नात्र संशयः इह लोके हरेर्भक्तिमन्ते दास्यं लभेद्ध्रुवम्
By reciting this hymn, one is certainly liberated; there is no doubt of this. In this world, a devotee of Hari surely attains the status of a servant.
श्रीनारायण उवाच जगाम श्रीहरिर्गेहं कुबेरभवनोपमम्
Shri Narayana said: Shri Hari went to his home, which was like the palace of Kubera.
ब्राह्मणेभ्यो धनं नन्दः परिपूर्णं ददौ मुदा
Nanda joyfully gave abundant wealth to the brahmins.
नानाविधं मङ्गलं च हरेर्नामानुकीर्तनम्
There were various auspicious ceremonies and the repeated singing of Hari's names.
एवं मुमुदिरे सर्वे वृन्दारण्ये गृहेगृहे
Thus, all the people in Vrindavana rejoiced in every household.
इत्येवं कथितं सर्वं हरेश्चरितमङ्गलम्
Thus, all the auspicious deeds of Hari have been narrated.
4.20 श्रीनारायण उवाच भुक्त्वा पीत्वाऽनुलिप्तश्च वृन्दारण्यं जगाम ह
Shri Narayana said: Having eaten, drunk, and been anointed, he went to Vrindavana.
क्रीडां चकार भगवान्कौतुकेन च तैः सह
The Blessed Lord played joyfully there together with them.
तस्य प्रभावं विज्ञातुं विधाता जगतां पतिः
To understand his power, the Creator, Lord of the worlds, sought to know.
विज्ञाय तदभिप्रायं सर्वज्ञः सर्वकारकः
Knowing his intention, the all-knowing, the doer of all, acted accordingly.
जगाम श्रीहरिर्गेहं कालयित्वा च गोकुलम्
After spending time in Gokula, Shri Hari returned home.
एवं चकार भगवान्वर्षमेकं च प्रत्यहम्
In this way, the Blessed Lord did so every day for a year.
ब्रह्मा प्रभावं विज्ञाय लज्जानम्रात्मकन्धरः
Realizing the power of Brahma, he bowed his head in shame.
ददर्श कृष्णं तत्रैव गोपालगणवेष्टितम्
There he saw Krishna, surrounded by groups of cowherd boys.
रत्नसिंहासनस्थं च हसन्तं सस्मितं मुदा
He saw him seated on a jeweled throne, smiling joyfully.
रत्नकेयूरवलयरत्नमञ्जीररञ्जितम् 4.20.
He was adorned with jeweled armlets, bracelets, and anklets.
कोटिकन्दर्पलावण्यं लीलाधाममनोहरम्
He possessed beauty surpassing millions of Cupids, enchanting as the abode of play.
पारिजातप्रसूनानां मालाजालैर्विभूषितम्
He was decorated with garlands made of clusters of parijata flowers.
मालतीमाल्यसंयुक्तं मयूरपिच्छचूडकम्
He wore a garland of jasmine and a peacock feather on his head.
शरत्पार्वणचन्द्रस्य प्रभामुष्टास्यसुन्दरम्
His face was lovely, stealing the radiance of the autumn full moon.
