ब्रह्मा विष्णुश्च धर्मश्च शेषस्त्वं च गणेश्वरः
Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Dharma, Śeṣa, and you, O lord of the Gaṇas—
यश्च यं सन्ततं ध्यायेत्स तमाप्नोति निश्चितम्
Whoever constantly meditates upon any one of these, certainly attains that very one.
कृष्णस्य स्मरणाद्ध्यानात्तपसा तस्य सेवया
By remembering, meditating upon, performing austerities for, and serving Kṛṣṇa—
प्रलब्धं लीलया सर्वं पूर्णं मन्मानसं तदा
All is obtained by his play; then my mind becomes completely fulfilled.
पिता हिमाद्रिः कृष्णांशो मम किं दुर्लभं प्रभो प्रहस्योवाच मधुरं पुलकांकितविग्रहः
My father is Himālaya, and I am a portion of Kṛṣṇa—O Lord, what could be unattainable for me? Smiling sweetly, his body thrilled with delight, he spoke.
सर्वसम्पत्स्वरूपा त्वमनन्तशक्ति रूपिणी 4.16.
You are the embodiment of all prosperity, the form of infinite power.
न लक्ष्मीर्यद्गृहे तस्य जीवनान्मरणं वरम्
In whose house Lakṣmī does not dwell, for him, death is preferable to life.
संहारे सृष्टिकाले च त्वत्प्रसादाद्वयं क्षमाः
At the time of dissolution and creation, by your grace alone, we are able to endure.
त्वद्विहीना अशक्ताश्च त्वया च वयमीश्वराः
Without you, we are powerless, and with you, we are lords, O Lord.
गृहीत्वाऽऽज्ञामीश्वरस्य व्रतं कुरु पतिव्रते
Having received the command of the Lord, undertake the vow, O devoted wife.
सनत्कुमारो भगवान्व्रते तेऽस्तु पुरोहितः
Let the venerable Sanatkumara be your priest in the vow.
कुबेरं द्रव्यकोशे च रक्षकं कुरु सुन्दरि
Appoint Kubera as the guardian of the treasury, O beautiful one.
पाठको वह्निदेवश्च वरुणो जलदायकः
Let Agni be the reciter, and Varuna the giver of water.
स्थानसंस्कार कर्ता च व्रतेऽत्र पवनः स्वयम्
Let Pavana himself perform the consecration of the place in this vow.
सूर्यश्च दाननिर्वक्ता योग्यायोग्यं यथोचितम्
Let Surya declare the gifts, determining what is suitable and unsuitable as appropriate.
ततोऽधिकं फलं पुष्पं हरये देहि सुन्दरि 4.16.
Then, O beautiful one, offer the superior fruit and flowers to Hari.
असंख्यान्ब्राह्मणान्देवि भक्त्या कुरु निमन्त्रणम्
Invite countless Brahmins with devotion, O goddess.
व्रतोक्तां दक्षिणां दत्त्वा सर्वं देहि द्विजातये
Having given the prescribed offering for the vow, give everything to the twice-born.
व्रतं चकार सा दुर्गा सर्वाभ्यश्च विलक्षणम्
Durga performed the vow, distinct from all others.
रत्नं वोढुमशक्ताश्च ब्राह्मणाः पार्वतीव्रते
The Brahmins were unable to carry the jewel in the Parvati vow.
श्रीकृष्णबालचरितं नूत्नं नूत्नं पदे पदे
The childhood deeds of Shri Krishna were sung anew at every step.
जगाम स्वगृहं कृष्णः कुबेरभवनोपमम्
Krishna went to his own house, which was like Kubera's mansion.
श्रुत्वैवं विस्मिताः सर्वे नन्दो भयमवाप ह
Hearing this, all were astonished; Nanda became fearful.
युक्तिं चकार तैः सार्द्धमालोच्य समयोचिताम्
He devised a plan together with them, considering what was appropriate for the time.
गन्तुं वृन्दावनं सर्वानुवाच तत्क्षणं मुने
He instructed everyone to go to Vrindavana at that very moment, O sage.
गोपाश्च गोपिकाश्चैव बालका बालिकास्तथा 4.16.
The cowherds and cowherd women, as well as the boys and girls.
संगीतं च प्रगायन्तो नानावेष समन्विताः
Singing songs, adorned in various costumes,
करतालकराः केचिद्वीणाहस्ताश्च केचन
Some clapped their hands, while others held vīṇās in their hands.
नवपल्लवकर्णाश्च केचिद्गोपालबालकाः
Some cowherd boys wore fresh leaves as ear-ornaments.
नवमाल्यकराः केचित्केचिदाजानुमालिनः
Some held fresh garlands, and some wore garlands down to their knees.
