मानसं गोपिकानां च मोहयन्तं मुहुर्मुहुः
He repeatedly enchants the minds of the gopis.
ब्रह्मानन्तेशधर्माद्यैः स्तूयमानमहं भजे
I worship Him who is praised by Brahma, Ananta, Ishvara, Dharma, and others.
ध्यायेत्तदा राधिकां च ध्यानं मध्यंदिनेरितम्
At that time, one should meditate on Radhika as described in the midday meditation.
रासमण्डलमध्यस्थां रासाधिष्ठातृदेवताम्
She stands in the center of the rasa circle, the presiding deity of the rasa dance.
रसिकप्रवरां रम्यां रमां च रमणोत्सुकाम्
She is the foremost of connoisseurs, beautiful, Lakshmi herself, eager for union.
वक्रभ्रूभङ्गसंयुक्तां मञ्जीरेणैव रञ्जिताम्
She is adorned with arched, expressive eyebrows and is graced by tinkling anklets.
चारुचम्पकवर्णाभां चन्दनेन विभूषिताम्
She shines with the lovely hue of champaka flowers and is adorned with sandal paste.
चारुपत्रावलीयुक्तां वह्निशुद्धांशुकोज्ज्वलाम् 4.16.
She is adorned with beautiful garlands of leaves and shines in garments purified by fire.
रत्नेन्द्रसारहारेण वक्षःस्थलविराजिताम्
Her chest is splendid with a necklace made of the finest jewels.
सद्रत्नसाररचितक्वणन्मञ्जीररञ्जिताम्
She is adorned with anklets made of excellent jewels that produce melodious sounds.
सर्वेशेन स्तूयमानां सर्वबीजां भजाम्यहम्
I worship her, praised by the Lord of all, the source of all seeds.
भक्त्या दत्त्वा प्रतिदिनमुपचारांश्च षोडश
With devotion, one should daily offer the sixteen forms of worship.
सहस्रकमलं दिव्यं शतमष्टोत्तरं मुने
O sage, one should offer a thousand divine lotuses, one hundred and eight in number.
दद्याद्भक्त्या च कृष्णाय स्वाहेत्युच्चार्य यत्नतः
With devotion, one should give them to Krishna, carefully reciting 'svāhā.'
नित्यमष्टोत्तरशतं दद्याद्भक्त्याऽक्षतैः फलम्
Every day, one should offer one hundred and eight unbroken grains with devotion; this is the fruit.
होमं कुर्याद्व्रती नित्यमष्टोत्तरशताहुतीः
The vow-holder should perform a daily homa with one hundred and eight offerings.
तिलेन हवनं कुर्यादाज्यमिश्रेण नारद
O Nārada, one should perform the oblation with sesame mixed with clarified butter.
एवं मासत्रयं कृत्वा प्रतिष्ठां तदनन्तरम् ।। 4.16.
After performing thus for three months, one should then conduct the installation.
कमलानां च नवतिसहस्राण्यक्षतानि च
One should use ninety thousand lotuses and unbroken grains.
भोजयेत्परमान्नानि स्वादूनि मिष्टकानि च
One should offer the most excellent foods, as well as sweet and delicious dishes.
दद्यान्नानाविधं द्रव्यं नैवेद्यं सुमनोहरम्
One should give various kinds of substances as offerings, delightful to the mind.
नवतिं च सहस्राणि हुत्वाऽऽज्येन तिलेन च
Having performed ninety thousand oblations with clarified butter and sesame—
गन्धपुष्पार्चितान्भक्त्या दद्यान्नवतिलड्डुकान्
Having worshipped with fragrance and flowers, one should give ninety sesame balls with devotion.
एवंविधं व्रतं कृत्वा दद्याद्विप्राय दक्षिणाम्
Having performed such a vow, one should give a gift to a Brahmin.
वृषेन्द्राणां सहस्रं च स्वर्णशृङ्गसमन्वितम्
One should give a thousand excellent bulls adorned with golden horns.
विशिष्टसंततिकरं पतिसौभाग्यवर्द्धनम्
This bestows distinguished progeny and increases the good fortune of the husband.
दासतुल्यो भवेत्पुत्रो भर्ता च स्ववचस्करः 4.16.
The son becomes like a servant, and the husband acts according to her word.
भवेद्व्रतप्रभावेण प्राप्तज्ञानहरिस्स्मृतिः
By the power of the vow, one attains knowledge and the removal of forgetfulness.
सर्वेषां च व्रतानां च श्रेष्ठं शृणु वदामि ते
Hear from me now the best of all vows.
तया कृतं प्रथमतः कृत्वाऽगस्त्यं पुरोहितम्
It was first performed by her, having made Agastya the officiating priest.
