ननाम तां साश्रुनेत्रो भक्तिनम्रात्मकन्धरः
With tearful eyes and a devoted, bowed neck, he saluted her.
जानामीमं महाविष्णोः परं निर्गुणमच्युतम्
I know this child is the supreme, attribute-less, imperishable form of Mahāviṣṇu.
गृहाण प्राणनाथं च गच्छ भद्रे यथासुखम्
Take your beloved child and go, O blessed one, as you wish.
इत्युक्त्वा प्रददौ तस्यै रुदन्तं बालकं भिया
Having spoken thus, he handed her the crying infant, fearful for its safety.
उवाच नन्दं सा यत्नान्न प्रकाश्यं रहस्यकम्
She told Nanda, 'Do not reveal this secret under any circumstances.'
प्राज्ञस्त्वं गर्गवचनात्सर्वं जानासि कारणम् 4.15.
You are wise; by Garga's words you know the entire reason.
वरं वृणु व्रजेश त्वं यत्ते मनसि वाञ्छितम्
Choose a boon, O lord of Vraja, whatever you desire in your heart.
राधिकावचनं श्रुत्वा तामुवाच व्रजेश्वरः
Hearing Rādhikā's words, the lord of Vraja replied to her.
युवयोः सन्निधौ वासं दास्यसि त्वं सुदुर्लभम्
You will grant us residence in your presence, which is exceedingly rare.
श्रुत्वा नन्दस्य वचनमुवाच परमेश्वरी
Hearing Nanda's words, the Supreme Lady spoke.
आवयोश्चरणाम्भोजे युवयोश्च दिवानिशम्
Day and night, at the lotus feet of us both, and of you both as well.
माया युवां च प्रच्छन्नौ न करिष्यति मद्वरात्
By my boon, Māyā will not conceal you two.
एवमुक्त्वा तु सानन्दं कृत्वा कृष्णं स्ववक्षसि
Having spoken thus with joy, she placed Krishna upon her own breast.
कृत्वा वक्षसि तं कामाच्छ्लेषंश्लेषं चुचुम्ब च
Placing him on her breast out of affection, she embraced and kissed him.
नानाविचित्रचित्राढ्यं चित्रकाननशोभितम् 4.15.
Adorned with various wondrous and splendid decorations, beautified by a marvelous garden.
चन्दनागुरुकस्तृरीकुङ्कुमद्रवयुक्तया
With sandalwood, aloe, musk, and saffron substances.
नानाभोगसमायुक्तं दिव्यदर्पणसंयुतम्
Endowed with various enjoyments and furnished with divine mirrors.
मणीन्द्रसाररचितकपाटेन समन्वितम् कुङ्कुमाकारमणिभिः सप्तसोपानसंयुतम्
Fitted with doors made from the essence of the lord of jewels, and adorned with seven steps of saffron-colored gems.
युक्तं षट्पदसंयुक्तैः पुष्पोद्यानं च पुष्पितैः
A flower garden filled with blooming flowers and bees.
ददर्श तत्र ताम्बूलं कर्पूरादिसमन्वितम्
There he saw betel leaves prepared with camphor and other ingredients.
सुधामधुभ्यां पूर्णानि रत्नकुम्भानि नारद
Nārada, jewel vessels filled with nectar and honey.
कोटिकन्दर्पलीलाभं चन्दनेन विभूषितम्
Adorned with sandalwood, possessing the playfulness of millions of Cupids.
पीतवस्त्रपरीधानं प्रसन्नवदनेक्षणम्
Clad in yellow garments, with a cheerful face and gaze.
कौस्तुभेन मणीन्द्रेण वक्षःस्थलसमुज्ज्वलम् 4.15.
His chest shone brilliantly with the Kaustubha gem, the lord of jewels.
शरत्प्रफुल्लकमलप्रभामोचनलोचनम्
His eyes dispelled darkness, radiant like autumn's fully blossomed lotus.
त्रिवंकचूडां बिभ्रन्तं पश्यन्तं रत्नमन्दिरम्
Wearing a threefold crown, gazing at the jeweled palace.
सर्वस्मृतिस्वरूपा सा तथापि विस्मयं ययौ
Though she was the very embodiment of all sacred traditions, even so, she was filled with wonder.
कामाच्चक्षुश्चकोराभ्यां मुखचन्द्रं पपौ मुदा
With longing, her eyes—like those of a cakora bird—joyfully drank in the moon-like beauty of his face.
पुलकाङ्कितसर्वाङ्गी सस्मिता मदनातुरा नवसंगमयोग्यां च पश्यन्तीं वक्रचक्षुषा
Her whole body was thrilled with goosebumps, she smiled, overcome with love, gazing with sidelong glances, fit for a new union.
