महीं गतायां राधायां गोपीभिः सह गोपकैः
When Radha reached the earth with the gopis and gopas,
संभाष्य गोपान्गोपीश्च नियोज्य स्वीयकर्मणि
She spoke with the gopas and gopis, assigning them to their own tasks.
पूर्वं यद्यदपत्यं च देवकीवसुदेवयोः
Whatever children were previously born to Devaki and Vasudeva,
शेषांशं सप्तमं गर्भं माययाऽऽकृष्य गोकुले

फलं जयंतीयोगस्य सामान्येनैव सांप्रतम्
Now, in general, the fruit of the Jayanti-yoga is as follows.
को वा दोषोऽप्यकरणे भोजनो वा महामुने
O great sage, what fault is there in not performing it, or in eating?
व्रतं पूजाविधानं च संयमस्य च सांप्रतम्
Now, the vow, the method of worship, and the discipline are described.
अरुणोदयवेलायां समुत्थाय परेऽहनि
At the time of sunrise, on the following day, one should rise.
प्रातःकृत्य संविधाय स्नात्वा संकल्पमाचरेत्
Having completed the morning duties and bathed, one should make a resolve.
मन्वादिदिवसे प्राप्ते यत्फलं स्नानपूजनैः
On the day of Manu and others, whatever fruit is obtained by bathing and worship,
तस्यां तिथौ वारिमात्रं पितॄणां यः प्रयच्छति
On that lunar day, whoever offers even a drop of water to the ancestors,
स्नात्वा नित्यक्रियां कृत्वा निर्माय सूतिकागृहम्
Having bathed and performed the daily rites, one should prepare the birthing chamber.
तत्र द्रव्यं बहुविधं नाभिच्छेदनकर्तनम्
There, one should arrange various materials, including those for cutting the umbilical cord.
पूजाद्रव्याणि चारूणि सोपचाराणि षोडश 4.8.
The articles for worship, the offerings, and the sixteen upacaras should be prepared.
जातीफलं च कंकोलं दाडिमं श्रीफलं तथा
Nutmeg, cubeb, pomegranate, and coconut as well.
आसनं वसनं पाद्यं मधुपर्कं तथैव च
A seat, cloth, water for washing the feet, and the madhuparka offering likewise.
गंधं पुष्पं च नैवेद्यं तांबूलमनुलेपनम्
Fragrance, flowers, food offering, betel leaf, and ointment.
पादप्रक्षालनं कृत्वा धृत्वा धौते च वाससी
After washing the feet and putting on clean garments,
घटस्यारोपणं कृत्वा संपूज्य पंच देवताः
Having installed the pot, one should worship the five deities.
वसुदेवं देवकीं च यशोदां नंदमेव च
Vasudeva, Devaki, Yashoda, and also Nanda,
रोहिणीं ब्राह्मणीं चैव अष्टमीं स्थानदेवताम्
Rohini, a Brahmin woman, and the presiding deity of the eighth lunar day.
पुष्पकं मस्तके न्यस्य पुनर्ध्यायेद्विचक्षणः
Placing a flower on the head, the wise one should again meditate.
ब्रह्मणा कथितं पूर्वं कुमाराय महात्मने ।। 4.8.

बालं नीलांबुजाभमतिशयरुचिरं स्मेरवक्त्रांबुजं तं ब्रह्मेशानंतधर्मैः कतिकतिदिवसैः स्तूयमानं परं यत्
The child, resembling a blue lotus, exceedingly beautiful, with a smiling lotus-like face—Brahma, Ishana, and others, with endless virtues, praised that supreme one for several days.
ध्यात्वा पुष्पं च दत्त्वा च तत्सर्वं च निवेदयेत्
Having meditated, and having offered a flower, let all of that be presented.
आसनं सर्वशोभाढ्यं सद्रत्नमणिनिर्मितम्
A seat, resplendent in every way, fashioned from excellent jewels and gems.
वसनं वह्निशौचं च निर्मितं विश्वकर्मणा
Garments, pure as fire, crafted by Viśvakarman.
पादप्रक्षालनार्थं च स्वर्णपात्रस्थितं जलम्
Water placed in a golden vessel for washing the feet.
मधुसर्पिर्दधिक्षीरं शर्करासंयुतं परम्
The finest honey, ghee, curd, and milk, mixed with sugar.
दूर्वाक्षतं शुक्लपुष्पं स्वच्छतोयसमन्वितम्
Dūrvā grass, unbroken rice, and white flowers, accompanied by pure water.
