द्रौपदी कमलांशा च यज्ञकुंडसमुद्भवा
Draupadi, a portion of Lakshmi, was born from the sacrificial fire.
देवा गच्छंतु पृथिवीमंशेन भारहारकाः
Let the gods go to earth in portions, as removers of the burden.
इत्येवमुक्त्वा भगवान्विरराम च नारद
Having spoken thus, the blessed Narada became silent.
कृष्णस्य वामे वाग्देवी दक्षिणे कमलालया
On Krishna's left is the goddess of speech, and on his right, the abode of Lakshmi.
गोप्यो गोपाश्च परितो राधा वक्षःस्थलस्थिता
All around are the gopis and gopas, with Radha abiding upon his chest.
शृणु नाथ प्रवक्ष्यामि किंकरीवचनं प्रभो
Hear, O Lord, I will now speak the words of the attendant, O Master.
चक्षुर्निमीलनं कर्तुमशक्ता तव दर्शने 4.6.
In your presence, I am unable even to blink my eyes.
कियत्कालांतरेणैव मेलनं मे त्वया सह
After only a short interval, I will be united with you again.
निमेषं च युगशतं भविता मे त्वया विना
But a single blink will become a hundred ages for me without you.
मातरं पितरं बंधुं भ्रातरं भगिनीं सुतम्
Mother, father, relatives, brother, sister, son—
करोषि मायया छन्ना मां चेन्मायेश भूतले
If, O Lord of Māyā, you conceal me on earth by your illusion—
अनुक्षणं मम मनोमधुपो मधुसूदन
O Madhusūdana, at every moment my mind is absorbed in you.
यत्रयत्र च यस्यां वा योनौ जन्म भवत्विदम्
In whatever womb, at whatever time, this birth of mine may occur—
कृष्णस्त्वं राधिकाऽहं च प्रेमसौभाग्यमावयोः
You are Krishna, I am Rādhikā; the good fortune of our love endures.
यथा तन्वा सह प्राणाः शरीरं छायया सह
Just as the body and its life-breath, or the body and its shadow, are inseparable—
चक्षुर्निमेषविच्छेदो भविता नावयोर्भुवि
So, on earth, there will not be even a blink’s separation between us.
मम प्राणैस्तव तनुः केन वा करुणा हरे 4.6.
O Hari, by whose compassion is your body sustained by my very life-breaths?
स्त्रियः कतिविधाः संति पुरुषा वा पुरुष्टुत
O praised among men, how many kinds of women and men are there?
तव देहार्धभागेन केन वाऽहं विनिर्मिता
By whose agency was I created from half of your body?
ममात्मा मानसं प्राणास्त्वयि संस्थापिता यथा
Just as my self, my mind, and my life-breaths are established in you—
अतो निमेषविरहादात्मनोर्विक्लवं मनः
Therefore, from even a moment’s separation, my mind is distressed.
इत्येवमुक्त्वा सा देवी तत्रैव सुरसंसदि
Having spoken thus, that goddess remained there in the assembly of the gods.
क्रोडे कृत्वा तु तां कृष्णो मुखं संमृज्य वाससा
Then Krishna took her onto his lap and gently wiped her face with his garment.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच शृणु देवि प्रवक्ष्यामि योगींद्राणां च दुर्लभम्
Śrī Krishna said: Listen, O goddess, I will tell you what is difficult even for the greatest yogis.
आधाराधेययोः सर्वं ब्रह्मांडं पश्य सुन्दरि
O beautiful one, behold the entire universe as a relationship of support and that which is supported.
फलाधारं च पुष्पं च पुष्पाधारं च पल्लवम्
The fruit is supported by the flower, and the flower is supported by the bud.
वृक्षाधारो ऽप्यंकुरश्च जीवशक्तिसमन्वितः 4.6.
The sprout is supported by the tree, and both are endowed with the power of life.
शेषो वसुन्धराधारः शेषाधारो हि कच्छपः
Śeṣa supports the earth, and the tortoise supports Śeṣa.
ममाधारस्वरूपा त्वं त्वयि तिष्ठामि सांप्रतम्
You are my very form as the foundation; I now abide in you.
त्वं शरीरस्वरूपाऽसि त्रिगुणाऽऽधाररूपिणी
You are the embodiment of the body, the form of the threefold qualities as the foundation.
