Adorned with the best of jewels and serpents, and draped in garments purified by fire.
सद्रत्नसारकलशसमूहेन विराजितम्
It shone with clusters of pitchers made from the finest gems.
सहस्रचक्रसंयुक्तं मनोयायि मनोहरम्
Fitted with a thousand wheels, swift as the mind, and enchanting.
मुक्तामाणिक्यवज्राणां समूहेन समुज्ज्वलम्
Brilliant with masses of pearls, rubies, and diamonds.
देवानां दानवानां च रथानां प्रवरं मुने
O sage, it was the foremost among the chariots of gods and demons.
पंचाशद्योजनोर्ध्वं च चतुर्योजनविस्तृतम्
Fifty yojanas high and four yojanas wide.
तत्रस्थां ददृशुर्देवीं रत्नालंकारभूषिताम्
There, the gods saw a goddess adorned with jeweled ornaments.
तेजःस्वरूपा मतुलां मूलप्रकृतिमीश्वरीम्
She was of the form of radiance, incomparable, the primal nature, the sovereign.
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यां भक्तानुग्रहकातराम्
Her face was slightly smiling and serene, eager to bestow grace upon devotees.
रत्नेन्द्रसाररचितक्वणन्मञ्जीररंजिताम्
She was adorned with anklets made of the finest jewels, their tinkling sound resounding.

She was decorated with bracelets and armlets of the best gems.
नितंबकठिनश्रोणीं पीनोन्नतकुचानताम्
Her hips were firm as silver, her breasts full and prominent.
कज्जलोज्जलरेखाक्तशरत्पंकजलोच नाम्
Her eyes, lined with shining collyrium, resembled autumn lotuses.
मुक्तापंक्तिप्रभामुष्टदंतराजिविराजिताम्
Her teeth shone with the radiance of rows of pearls.
पक्षींद्रचंचुनासाग्रगजेंद्रमौक्तिकान्विताम्
Adorned with pearls from the tips of the king of birds' beaks and the trunks of lordly elephants,
सिंहपृष्ठसमारूढां सुताभ्यां सहितां मुदा
Seated joyfully upon the back of a lion, together with her two daughters,
सुताभ्यां सहिता देवी समुवा स वराननाः
The goddess, radiant-faced, together with her daughters, approached.
ननाम शंकरं धर्ममनंतं कमलोद्भवम्
She bowed to Śaṃkara, to Dharma, to the endless one, and to the lotus-born.
आशिषं च ददुर्देवा वासयामासुरंतिके
The gods gave their blessings and seated her nearby.
तस्थुर्देवाः सभामध्ये देवस्य पुरतो हरेः
The gods stood in the midst of the assembly before the Lord Hari.
उवाच कमलां कृष्णः स्मेराननसरोरुहः 4.6.
Krishna, whose lotus-face was smiling, spoke to Kamalā.
वैदर्भ्या उदरे जन्म लभ देवि सना तनि
O goddess, take birth in the womb of the lady from Vidarbha.
ता देव्यः पार्वतीं दृष्ट्वा समुत्थाय त्वरान्विताः
Those goddesses, seeing Pārvatī, quickly rose up.
विप्रेंद्र पार्वतीलक्ष्मीवागधिष्ठातृदेवताः
O best of Brahmins, the presiding goddesses—Pārvatī, Lakṣmī, and Vāk—
ताश्च संभाषयामासुः संप्रीत्या गोपकन्यकाः
They conversed with the cowherd maidens with great delight.
श्रीकृष्णः पार्वतीं तत्र समुवाच जगत्पतिः
There, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of the world, spoke to Pārvatī.
उदरे च यशोदायाः कल्याणी नंदरेतसा
In the womb of Yaśodā, by the seed of Nanda, the auspicious one—
ग्रामे ग्रामे च पूजां ते कारयिष्यामि भूतले
In every village on earth, I will have your worship performed.
तत्राधिष्ठातृदेवीं त्वां पूजयिष्यंति मानवाः
There, as the presiding goddess, you will be worshipped by people.
त्वद्भूमिस्पर्शमात्रेण सूतिकामंदिरे शिवे
By the mere touch of your presence, O auspicious one, in the birthing chamber,
