जनुर्लभत गोपाश्च गोप्यश्च पृथिवीतले
The cowherds and cowherd women obtained birth on the earth.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे सर्वे ददृशू रथमुत्तमम् 4.6.
Meanwhile, all of them beheld a most excellent chariot.
श्वेतचामरलक्षेण शोभितं दर्पणायुतैः
Adorned with white yak-tail fans and countless mirrors,
सद्रत्नकलशानां च सहस्रेण सुशोभितम्
and beautifully decorated with a thousand jewel-filled pitchers,
पार्षदप्रवरैयुक्तं शात कुंभमयं शुभम्
yoked with the foremost attendants, splendid and made of pure gold.
तत्रस्थं पुरुषं श्यामं सुन्दरं कमनीयकम्
Within it was a dark-complexioned man, handsome and charming.
किरीटिनं कुण्डलिनं वनमालाविभूषितम्
He was crowned, adorned with earrings, and decorated with a garland of forest flowers.
चतुर्भुजं स्मेरवक्त्रं भक्तानुग्रहकातरम्
He had four arms, a smiling face, and was eager to bestow grace upon his devotees.
देवीं तद्वामतो रम्यां शुक्लवर्णां मनोहराम्
The goddess, beautiful and charming, appeared with a radiant white complexion.
शरत्पार्वणचंद्रास्यां शरत्पंकजलोचनाम्
Her face was like the full autumn moon, and her eyes resembled autumn lotuses.
वेणुवीणाग्रंथहस्तां भक्तानुग्रहकातराम्
She held a flute and a vina in her hands, eager to bestow grace upon her devotees.
अपरां दक्षिणे रम्यां शतचंद्रसमप्रभाम् 4.6.
Another lovely goddess stood on the right, shining with the brilliance of a hundred moons.
सद्रत्नकुण्डलाभ्यां च सुकपोलविराजि ताम्
She was adorned with splendid earrings of precious gems, her cheeks radiant with beauty.
अमूल्यरत्नकेयूरकरकंकणशोभिताम्
She shone with priceless gem-studded armlets and bracelets.
मणींद्रकिंकिणीयुक्तमध्यदेशसमन्विताम्
Her waist was adorned with a girdle set with the finest jewels and tinkling bells.
प्रफुल्ल मालतीमालासंयुक्तकबरीयुताम्
Her hair was decorated with a garland of blooming jasmine flowers.
कस्तूरीबिंदुसंयुक्तसिन्दुरतिलकान्विताम्
She bore marks of musk and vermilion, with a tilaka on her forehead.
सहस्रदलसंसक्तलीलाकमलसंयुताम्
She was adorned with a playful lotus joined to a thousand-petaled lotus.
अवरुह्य रथात्तूर्ण सस्त्रीकः सहपार्षदः
Quickly descending from the chariot, he came together with his wife and attendants.
देवा गोप्यश्च गोपाश्च तस्थुः प्रांजलयो मुदा
The gods, cowherd women, and cowherd men stood with joined palms, filled with joy.
गत्वा नारायणो देवो विलीनः कृष्णविग्रहे
Having arrived, the god Narayana merged into the form of Krishna.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र शातकुंभमयाद्रथात् 4.6.
At that moment, from a chariot made of gold, there appeared—
आजगाम चतुर्बाहुर्वनमालाविभूषितः
He arrived, four-armed and adorned with a garland of forest flowers.
सर्वालंकारशोभा ढ्यः सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभः
He was resplendent with all ornaments, shining with the brilliance of a million suns.
संविलीने हरेरंगे श्वेतद्वीपनिवासिनि
When Hari had merged, she who dwells in Śvetadvīpa—
शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशो नाम्ना संकर्षणः स्मृतः
He was like pure crystal in appearance, and is known by the name Saṅkarṣaṇa.
आगतं तुष्टुवुः सर्वे दृष्ट्वा तं विष्णुवि ग्रहम्
All, having seen that planet in the form of Viṣṇu, praised him as he arrived.
सहस्रमूर्धा भक्त्या च प्रणनाम च नारद
The thousand-headed one, with devotion, bowed down, and so did Nārada.
लीनोऽहं कृष्णपादाब्जे बभूव फाल्गुनोऽवरः
I became merged at Kṛṣṇa's lotus feet; Phālguna became humble.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे देवा ददृशू रथमुत्तमम्
At that moment, the gods beheld an excellent chariot.
