वज्रसद्रत्नरचितं चतुर्वेदिसमन्वितम्
With a quadrangular platform made of diamonds and precious gems,
द्वारपालं च ददृशुः सुबलं ललिताकृतिम्
They saw the doorkeeper Subala, graceful in form.
वज्रैर्द्वादशलक्षैश्च संयुक्तं सुमनोहरम्
Endowed with twelve hundred thousand diamonds, exceedingly enchanting.
विशिष्टं दशमं द्वारं दृष्ट्वा ते विस्मयं ययुः
Beholding the distinguished tenth gate, they were filled with wonder.
ददृशुर्द्वारपालं च सुदामानं च सुन्दरम्
They saw the doorkeeper Sudāmā, who was beautiful.
गोपविंशतिलक्षाणां समूहैः परिवारितम्
Surrounded by groups of two million cowherds.
द्वारमेकादशाख्यं च सुचित्रं महदद्भुतम्
A gate known as the eleven-branched, wondrous and marvelously adorned, was seen.
अमूल्यरत्नभूषाभिर्भूषितं सुमनोहरम् 4.5.
It was beautifully decorated with ornaments of priceless jewels, captivating to behold.
गण्डस्थलकपोलार्हसद्रत्नकुण्डलोज्ज्वलम्
Its cheeks and temples were radiant with splendid earrings worthy of such beauty.
प्रफुल्लमालतीमालाजालैः सर्वांगभूषितम्
Its entire form was adorned with garlands of blossoming jasmine flowers.
तं संभाष्य ययुर्द्वारं द्वादशाख्यं सुरा मुदा
After speaking with him, the delighted gods proceeded to the gate called the twelfth.
सर्वेषां दुर्लभं चित्रमदृश्यमश्रुतं मुने
O sage, it was a wondrous and rare sight for all, unseen and unheard of before.
द्वारे नियुक्ता ददृशुर्देवा गोपांगना वराः
At the gate, the gods saw excellent gopī maidens stationed there.
पीतवस्त्रपरीधानाः कबरीभारभूषिताः
They were dressed in yellow garments and adorned with heavy, flowing hair.
रत्नकंकणकेयूररत्ननूपुरभूषिताः
They were adorned with jeweled bracelets, armlets, and anklets.
चन्दनागुरु कस्तूरीकुंकुमद्रवचर्चिताः
Their bodies were anointed with sandalwood, agaru, musk, and liquid saffron.
गोपीनां शतकोटीनां श्रेष्ठाः प्रेष्ठा हरेरपि
They were the foremost among hundreds of millions of gopīs, most beloved even to Hari.
संभाष्य ता मुदा युक्ता ययुर्द्वारातरं मुने 4.5.
After speaking with them joyfully, O sage, they passed through the gate.
गोपांगनानां श्रेष्ठाश्च ददृशुः सुमनोहराः
They saw the most excellent and enchanting of the gopī maidens.
सर्वाः सौभाग्ययुक्ताश्च राधिकायाः प्रियाश्च ताः
All of them were endowed with good fortune and were dear companions of Rādhikā.
एवं द्वारत्रयं दृष्ट्वा स्वप्ना ज्ञानाद्भुताश्रुतम्
Having seen these three gates, wondrous and unheard of even in dream or knowledge,
तास्ताः संभाष्य देवास्ते विस्मिता ययुरीश्वराः
After speaking with them, the astonished gods departed, O lord.
सर्वासां च प्रधानं च गोप्यं गोपांगनागणैः
Among all of them, the chief gopī was surrounded by groups of gopī maidens.
तेषामनिर्वचनीयैर्नानागुणसमन्वितैः
They were endowed with countless, indescribable virtues.
रत्नकंकणकेयूरत्ननूपुरभूषितैः
Adorned with jeweled bracelets, armlets, and anklets.
रत्नकुंडलयुग्मेन गंडस्थलविराजितैः
With pairs of jeweled earrings shining on their cheeks.
शरत्पार्वणपद्मानां प्रभां मुष्णन्मुखेंदुभिः
With faces radiant like autumn full-moon lotuses, outshining their brilliance.
पक्वबिंबाधरोष्ठैश्च स्मेराननसरोरुहैः 4.5.
With smiling lotus-like faces and lips red as ripe bimba fruit.
चारुचंपकवर्णाभिर्मध्यस्थलकृशैर्मुने
With complexions lovely as champaka flowers, and slender waists, O sage.
खगेंद्रचारुचंचूनां शोभामुष्णाभिरेव च
With beautiful beaks like the king of birds, radiating splendor.
