Listen, O seeker, to the wondrous fruits bestowed upon those who walk the path of devotion and charity, as revealed in the sacred verses. When a soul attains its own birth again, it rises to become the lord of Jambūdvīpa, and for a crore of births, the earth never abandons him. Such is the reward for one who gives Jambūdvīpa to a brāhmaṇa or to a devoted wife, or who offers the earth of the seven continents and serves at all holy places. The giver of all gifts, the master of all perfections, is exalted above all; Vaishnavas, while still living, witness the fall of countless Brahmas, so vast is their spiritual vision. One who worships Vishnu with mantra, upon abandoning the human body, attains likeness to Vishnu and thereafter serves Him eternally. Even as the gods, the perfected beings, and all the worlds perish, the devotee’s glory endures. Whoever offers tulasi leaves to Hari in the auspicious month of Karttika, regaining his own birth, surely attains unwavering devotion to Hari. Likewise, one who gives a ghee lamp to Hari during Karttika, upon regaining his birth, attains devotion to Vishnu. Those who bathe in the sacred Ganga at sunrise during Magha, or at Prayaga during Magha at sunrise, regain their own birth and attain devotion to Vishnu and the Vishnu-mantra. Once a soul reaches Vaikuntha, there is no return to the earthly realm. One who bathes daily in the Ganga becomes purified on earth, radiant like the sun. By the dust of his feet, the earth is instantly cleansed. Regaining his own birth, he becomes a foremost ascetic. When the sun blazes intensely between Mina and Karkata, the devotee delights in Vaikuntha for as long as fourteen Indras reign. Whoever offers sandalwood to Hari with devotion in the month of Vaishakha, having attained his own birth again, becomes handsome and happy. Those who give parched grain as charity to a twice-born in Vaishakha, or observe the vow of Krishna’s birth-ashtami in Bharat, also delight in Vaikuntha for as long as fourteen Indras reign. In Bharat, whoever observes Shivaratri, or offers bilva leaves to Shiva on that sacred night, upon attaining his own birth again, surely obtains devotion to Shiva. Those who, observing a vow, worship Shankara in Chaitra or Magha, are similarly blessed. Those who observe Shri Rama Navami in Bharat, upon attaining their own birth again, surely obtain devotion to Rama. Whoever performs the great autumnal worship of Prakriti, with offerings of food, gifts, incense, and lamps, dwells in Shiva’s world until the end of seven Manvantaras. He attains unwavering prosperity, blessed with sons and grandsons, and becomes a king of kings, without doubt. Finally, whoever, with devotion, for one fortnight, stays in a holy place in Bharat, delights in Vaikuntha for as long as the moon and sun endure. Such are the rewards for those who offer, worship, and serve with devotion and sincerity. The blessings are vast and enduring, spanning worlds and ages, for the heart that seeks and honors the divine.
