Adorned with ornaments fashioned from the most precious jewels, Krishna shone resplendent, beloved above all, dearer than life itself, worshipped and cherished, resting upon the very chest of his devotee. The gods gazed upon him from every direction, beholding him in the fullness of the Rasa, utterly complete. Sages, humans, perfected beings, and ascetics, all having performed great austerities, gathered together. After conferring among themselves, they approached the four-faced Brahma and spoke to him. Hearing their words, Brahma took his place at the right side of Vishnu, filled with supreme bliss, his very form radiating that bliss. All present were similarly attired, seated together in the grand assembly. There, Krishna appeared with two arms, holding a flute, his form adorned with a garland of forest flowers. He was supremely enchanting, beautiful, and peaceful. All were equal in clothing, fame, appearance, and beauty. So alike were they that it was impossible to distinguish who was to be served and who was the servant. Even a single moment spent with Krishna, together with Radha, was considered the highest attainment. Krishna himself took the form of Radha, and Radha appeared as Krishna’s beloved consort. With a concentrated mind, the creator Brahma meditated upon Shri Krishna, who dwelled in the lotus of his heart. Then, opening his eyes and with their permission, Brahma saw Krishna surrounded by his own attendants, adorned within the circle of gopis. Understanding the purpose of their gathering, the Lord of the gods addressed them. Shri Bhagavan said, “Come here, Mahadeva; may everlasting welfare be yours. You have arrived, O greatly fortunate ones, for the purpose of bringing Ganga. Radha desires to drink of her, having seen her in my presence.” Upon hearing Krishna’s words, the lotus-born Brahma smiled. The four-faced creator spoke of the four Vedas, recounting, “Ganga, born from your limb, O Lord, in the circle of the rasa dance, is a portion of Krishna and a portion of you, beloved as your own daughter. Her husband will be the four-armed one who dwells in Vaikuntha. Radha, who resides in Goloka, is also present everywhere as the very Self.” Hearing Brahma’s words, Ganga accepted them with a gentle smile and remained there, peaceful, standing amidst the assembly. Then, Brahma took a small portion of that sacred water and placed it into his water pot. The lotus-born one bestowed upon Ganga the mantra of Radhika, as prescribed in the Sama Veda, following the proper sequence of rites. Lakshmi, Sarasvati, Ganga, and Tulasi were declared the purifiers of the universe. Then Krishna, smiling, spoke to Brahma, “Listen to the account of time; hear what has passed. You, and the other gods, the sages, and likewise the Manus—all dwell in Goloka, where the wheel of time does not exist. Those like Brahma and others who reside in other worlds are now absorbed in Me. Go, create again the worlds, beginning with Brahmaloka and beyond. Thus, in other universes, after creating again Brahma and the rest, know that in the mere blink of My eye, the fall of Brahma takes place.” So unfolded the sacred exchange, as the gods, sages, and divine beings witnessed the eternal play of Krishna, Radha, and the blessed Ganga, amidst the timeless realm of Goloka.
