भविष्यस्य भविष्यं तु समासात्तन्निबोधत
Now listen concisely to what is to come in the future.
कौशिको गालवश्चैव जामदग्न्यश्च भार्गवः
Kauśika, Gālava, Jāmadagnya, and Bhārgava—
आत्रेयो दीप्तिमांश्चैव ऋषयशृङ्गस्तु काश्यपः
Ātreya, Dīptimān, Ṛṣyaśṛṅga, and Kāśyapa—
सुतपाश्चामिताभाश्च सुखाश्चैव गणास्त्रयः
Sutapas, Amitābhā, and Sukhā—these are the three groups.
नामतस्तु प्रवक्ष्यामि निबोधध्वं समाहिताः
I will now declare their names; listen attentively.
प्रभासो मासकृद्धर्मस्तेजोरश्मिः क्रतुर्विराट्
Prabhāsa, Māsakṛt, Dharma, Tejoraśmi, Kratu, Virāṭ—
अर्चिष्मान् द्योतनो भानुर्यशः कीर्त्तिर्बुधो धृतिः
Arciṣmān, Dyotana, Bhānu, Yaśas, Kīrti, Budha, Dhṛti—
प्रभुर्विभुर्विभासश्च जेता हन्ता रिहा ऋतुः
Prabhu, Vibhu, Vibhāsa, Jetā, Hantā, Rihā, Ṛtu—
देही मुनिरिनः पोष्टा समः सत्यश्च विश्रुतः
The embodied sage is our nourisher, equal, truthful, and renowned.
दामो दानी ऋतः सोमो वित्तं वैद्यो यमो निधिः
Dama, Dāni, Ṛta, Soma, wealth, physician, Yama, and treasure.
ध्रुवं स्थानं विधानं च नियमश्चेति विंशतिः
Dhruva, place, arrangement, and restraint—thus, twenty.
मारीचस्यैव ते पुत्राः कश्यपस्य महात्मनः
These are the sons of Mārīca and the great-souled Kaśyapa.
सावर्णस्य मनोः पुत्रा भविष्यन्ति नवैव तु
Nine sons of Sāvarṇa Manu will indeed be born.
नव चान्येषु वक्ष्यामि सावर्णेष्वन्तरेषु वै
I will also declare nine others among the Sāvarṇas in the intervals.
मेरुसावर्णितस्ते वै चत्वारो दिव्यदृष्टयः
Merusāvarṇi, and those four with divine vision.
महता तपसा युक्ता मेरुपृष्ठे महौ जसः
Endowed with great austerity, on the summit of Meru, possessing great glory.
महर्लोकं गता वृत्ता भविष्या मेरुमाश्रिताः
Having attained the Maharloka, accomplished, and future dwellers on Meru.
जज्ञिरे मनवस्ते हि भविष्यानागतान्तरे
These Manus are indeed born for the future and the coming intervals.
सावर्णा नामतः पञ्च चत्वारः परमर्षिजाः
Five Sāvarṇas by name, and four born of supreme sages.
ज्येष्ठः संज्ञासुतो नाम मुर्वैवस्वतः प्रभुः
The eldest is named Saṃjñāsuta, lord, son of Mūrvaivasvata.
चतुर्दशैते मनवः कीर्तिता कीर्तिवर्द्धनाः
These fourteen Manus are proclaimed, increasers of fame.
प्रजानां पतयः सर्वे भूतानां पतयः स्थिताः
All are lords of creatures, established as lords of beings.
पूर्णं युगसहस्रं वै परिपाल्या नरेश्वरैः
A full thousand ages are to be protected by the kings of men.
चतुर्द्दशैते विज्ञेयाः सर्गाः स्वायंभुवादयः
These fourteen creations, beginning with Svāyambhuva, are to be understood.
विनिवृत्ताधिकारास्ते महार्लोकं समाश्रिताः
Having relinquished authority, they reside in Maharloka.
पूर्वेषु सांप्रतश्चायं शास्ति वैवस्वतः प्रभुः
In former times and now, Vaivasvata, the lord, rules.
सह प्रजा निसर्गेण सर्वांस्ते ऽनागतान्द्विजः
Together with creation, O twice-born, all those beings yet to come were also produced.
अनूना नातिरिक्तास्ते यस्मात्मर्वे विवस्वतः
They were neither less nor more, for all originated from Vivasvat.
मन्वन्तरेषु भाव्येषु भूतेष्वपि तथैव च
In the future Manvantaras, and likewise among beings, it is the same.
तेषामेव हि सिद्ध्यर्थं विस्तरेण क्रमेण च
For the accomplishment of their purposes, in due order and in detail, it is indeed for them.
