Brahmanda Purana
The propagation of the seven Manvantaras has been heard by you.
Just as their activity begins, so too does their decline.
By this sequential order, O twice-born, the lineages of Aila and Ikshvaku proceed.
They follow the reckoning of the yugas until the end of the Manvantara.
In the Krita Yuga, the entire earth was filled with Kshatriya rulers.
The nature of the lines of Aila, Ikshvaku, and Nanda changes over time.
Those kings who are renowned from the line of Ila, and likewise the Ikshvakus,
The expansion of the Bhojas is said to be twice as great as theirs.
Now hear of those among them who have passed away, as I recount them.
Dhritarashtra and one hundred and eighty Janamejayas,
Then one hundred Paulas, Shvetakasha, Kusha, and others.
All of them performed Ashvamedha sacrifices, each with abundant gifts.
In this current Manvantara of Manu Vaivasvata,
The extent of their lineages, one after another, cannot be fully described.
Eight and twenty yugas have passed in the Vaivasvata Manvantara.
And forty-three more, along with their kings, are yet to come.
All this has been told to you, both in summary and in detail.
These are the five lineages of Yayati's sons, beneficial to the peoples.
And one obtains five rare worldly boons,
By retaining and hearing the account of the wise fivefold lineage.
What more shall I describe in detail and in sequence?
Thus ends the seventy-fourth chapter, entitled 'The Genealogies,' in the third section, Upoddhāta-pāda, of the middle part of the great Brahmāṇḍa Purāṇa, as spoken by Vāyu.
Then the excellent sages asked about the fourth section.
Describe in detail the fourth section, the dissolution.
Now, regarding these seven sages in the present Manu-epoch—
Tell us everything in detail and in order.
O best of sages, this fourth section, along with the dissolution—
Hear in detail and in sequence about creation, O twice-born.
Listen as I speak of the dissolution of the worlds.
Hear in brief from me about the coming Manvantaras.
