अन्तरं च शतान्यष्टौ षट्त्रिंशच्च समाः स्मृताः
And the interval is reckoned as eight hundred and thirty-six years.
भविष्यैस्तत्र संख्याताः पुराणज्ञैः श्रुतार्षिभिः
There, the numbers have been declared by the knowers of the Puranas and the sages who have heard them.
सप्तविंशैः शतैर्भाव्या अन्ध्राणां ते ऽन्वयाः पुनः
Again, the lineages of the Andhras will exist for twenty-seven hundred years.
सप्तर्षयस्तु तिष्ठन्ति पर्यायेण शतंशतम्
The Seven Sages remain, each for a hundred years in turn.
मासा दिव्याः स्मृताः षट्च दिव्याब्दाश्चैव सप्त हि
Six divine months are reckoned, and indeed, seven divine years.
सप्तर्षीणां तु यौ पूर्वौ दृश्येते उत्तरादिशि
Of the Seven Sages, the two who appear first are seen in the northern direction.
तेन सप्तर्षयो युक्ता ज्ञेया व्योम्नि शतं समाः
With them, the Seven Sages are to be known as united in the sky for a hundred years.
सप्तर्षयो ह्यथायुक्ताः काले परीक्षिते शतम्
When the Seven Sages are thus joined, the measured period is a hundred years.
इमास्तदा तु प्रकृतीर्व्यापत्स्यन्ते प्रजा भृशम्
Then, at that time, these natures will be destroyed, and the people will greatly perish.
श्रौतस्मार्त्ते प्रशिथिले धर्मे वर्णाश्रमे तदा
When the Vedic and Smriti-based dharma is weakened in caste and stage of life,
संसक्ताश्च भविष्यन्ति शूद्राः सार्द्धं द्विजातिभिः
Shudras will become mixed together with the twice-born.
उपस्थास्यन्ति तान्विप्रांस्तदा दौर्वृत्त्यलिप्सवः
At that time, Brahmins, eager for wicked conduct, will approach them.
क्षयमेव गमिष्यन्ति क्षीणशेषा युगक्षये
At the end of the age, when only a remnant remains, they will proceed to destruction.
प्रतिपन्नः कलियुगस्तस्य संख्यां निबोधत
Kali Yuga has begun; now hear its reckoning.
षष्टिं चैव सहस्राणि वर्षाणां तूच्यते कलिः
It is said that the Kali age lasts for sixty thousand years.
निःशेषे च तदा तस्मिन्कृतं वै प्रतिपत्स्यते
Then, when it is completely ended, the Krita age will return.
इक्ष्वाकोस्तु समृतं क्षत्त्रं सुमित्रान्तं विवस्वतः
The royal lineage of Ikshvaku, ending with Sumitra, is descended from Vivasvat.
एते विवस्वतः पुत्राः कीर्तिताः कीर्त्तिवर्द्धनाः
These sons of Vivasvat have been named, renowned for increasing fame.
ब्राह्मणाः क्षत्त्रिया वैश्यः शूद्राश्चैवात्र ये स्मृताः
Here are remembered the Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras.
बहुत्वान्नामधेयानां परिसंख्या कुलेकुले
Because of the multitude of names, enumeration is made for each family.
वैवस्वतंऽतरे ह्यस्मिन्न निमिवंशः समाप्यते
Within the Vaivasvata interval, the Nimi lineage comes to completion.
तथा हि कथयिष्यामि गदतो मे निबोधत
Now I will tell you; listen carefully as I speak.
माहायोगबलोपेतौ कलापग्राममास्थितौ
Endowed with great yogic power, they reside in the village of Kalapa.
सुवर्चा नाम पुत्रस्तु इक्ष्वाकोस्तु भविष्यति
A son named Suvarcha will be born to Ikshvaku.
देवापेश्च सपौलस्तु एलादिर्भविता नृपः
Devapi together with Paula, and Eladi will become kings.
एवं सर्वत्र विज्ञेयं संतानार्थे तु लत्रणम्
Thus, everywhere, the propagation of lineage is to be understood.
सप्तर्षिभिस्तु तैः सार्द्धमाद्ये त्रेतायुगे पुनः
Together with those seven sages, in the first Treta age, once again.
द्वापरांशेन तिष्ठन्ति क्षत्रिया ऋषिभिः सह
With a portion of Dvapara, the Kshatriyas remain together with the sages.
बीजार्थं ते भविष्यन्ति ब्रह्मक्षत्रस्य वै पुनः
They will exist for the sake of the seed, for the Brahmana and Kshatriya classes once more.
सप्तर्षयो नृपैः सार्द्धं संतानार्थं युगेयुगे
The seven sages, together with kings, propagate the lineage in every age.
