अनुकर्षन्स वै सेनां हस्त्यश्वरथसंकुलाम्
Drawing forth his army, crowded with elephants, horses, and chariots,
नात्यर्थं धार्मिका ये च ये च धर्मद्विषः क्वचित्
Those who are not exceedingly righteous, and those who are ever hostile to dharma,
तथैव दाक्षिणात्यांश्च द्रविडान्सिंहलैः सह
Likewise, the southerners, the Dravidas together with the Sinhalas,
तुबराञ्छबरांश्चैव पुलिन्दान्बरदान् वसान्
The Tubaras, the Shabaras, and also the Pulindas, Baradas, and Vasas,
प्रवृत्तचक्रो बलवान्म्लेच्छानामन्तकृद्बली
The mighty one, with his wheel set in motion, the destroyer of the Mlecchas, powerful,
मानवः स तु संजज्ञे देवसेनस्य धीमतः
That man was born as the son of the wise Devasena,
गोत्रेण वै चन्द्रमसः पूर्णे कलियुगे ऽभवत्
By lineage of the lunar race, he appeared at the end of the Kali age,
तन्तं कालं च कायं च तत्तदुद्दिश्य कारणम्
The time, the body, and the purpose for each were determined,
पञ्चविंशे स्थितः कल्पे पञ्चविंशत्स वै समाः
Established in the twenty-fifth kalpa, he remained for twenty-five years,
कृत्वा बीजावशेषां तु महीं क्रूरेण कर्मणा
Having made the earth devoid of seeds by cruel deeds,
ततः स वै तदा कल्किश्चरितार्थः ससैनिकः
Then, Kalki, his purpose accomplished, together with his army,
अकस्मात्कुपितान्योन्यं भविष्यन्ति च मोहिताः
Suddenly, bewildered, they will become angry with one another.
गङ्गायमुनयोर्मध्ये निष्ठां प्राप्स्यति सानुगः
He, along with his followers, will attain a dwelling between the Ganga and Yamuna.
नृपेष्वथ विनिष्टेषु तदा त्वप्रग्रहाः प्रजाः
Then, when the kings are destroyed, the people will become unrestrained.
परस्परत्दृतस्वाश्च निरानन्दाः सुदुःखिताः
They will seize each other's possessions, joyless and greatly afflicted.
प्रनष्टश्रुतिधर्माश्चनष्टधर्माश्रमास्तथा
Their knowledge and righteousness will be lost, and the stages of life will also perish.
सरित्पर्वतसेविन्यः पत्रमूलफलाशनाः
Dwelling by rivers and mountains, they will subsist on leaves, roots, and fruits.
अल्पायुषो नष्टवार्ता बह्वाबाधाः सुदुःखिताः
Short-lived, deprived of livelihood, suffering many afflictions, they will be greatly distressed.
प्रजाः क्षयं प्रयास्यन्ति सार्द्धं कलियुगेन तु
The people will decline together with the Kali age.
प्रपत्स्यन्ते यथान्यायं स्वभावादेव नान्यथा
They will proceed according to their own nature, just as is proper, and not otherwise.
यदुवंशप्रसंगेन महद्वो वैष्मवं यशः
Through the lineage of Yadu, your great and renowned fame has arisen.
तुर्वसोस्तु प्रवक्ष्यामि पूरोर्द्रुह्योरनोस्तथा
Now I shall recount the lineages of Turvasa, Puru, Druhyu, and Anu.
इति श्रीब्रह्माण्डे महापुराणे वायुप्रोक्ते मध्यमभागे तृतीय उपोद्धातपादे विष्णुमाहात्म्यवर्णनं नाम त्रिसप्ततितमो ऽध्यायः
Thus ends the seventy-third chapter, named 'The Description of the Greatness of Vishnu,' in the third section, in the middle part, as spoken by Vayu, of the glorious Brahmanda Mahapurana.
गोभानोस्तु सुतो वीर स्त्रिसानुरपाजितः
The valiant son of Gobhānu was Apājita, who had three sons.
अन्यस्त्वाविज्ञितो राजा मरुत्तः कथितः पुरा
Another was the king Marutta, previously mentioned, whose identity was not known.
दुष्कन्तं पौरवं चापि स वै पुत्रमकल्पयत्
He appointed Duṣkanta, of the Paurava line, as his son.
तुर्वसोः पौरवं वंशं प्रविवेश पुरा किल
Long ago, Turvasa entered the Paurava lineage.
सरूप्यात्तु तथाण्डीरश्चत्वारस्तस्य चात्मजाः
From Sarūpya came Andīra; he had four sons.
तेषां जनपदाः कुल्याः पाण्ड्याश्चोलाः सकेरलाः
Their peoples were the Kulyas, Pāṇḍyas, Colas, and those of Kerala.
अरुद्धः सेतुपुत्रस्तु बाब्रवो रिपुरुच्यते
Aruddha was the son of Setu; Bābrava is called the enemy.
