All stood bewildered and could not do anything.
This Kāvyā is the ācārya of the gods, and this Āṅgirasa is the ācārya of the devas.
When this was spoken, all of them looked upon those two.
Bṛhaspati spoke, saying: 'This is my brother, Aṅgirā.'
He confuses me by his own form; this one deceives you, Asuras.
This lord has ruled over us constantly for ten years.
Then all the Dānavas, having bowed and offered salutations,
All the Asuras, angry with bloodshot eyes, spoke thus:
Let this Bhārgava or Aṅgiras be our guru.
Having spoken thus, all the gods approached Bṛhaspati.
Then Bhārgava became angry with them because of their arrogance.
Therefore, deprived of consciousness, you will attain defeat.
Knowing that the Asuras had been cursed by Kāvyā, Bṛhaspati
Having understood that the Asuras were fallen, he achieved his purpose and regained his prosperity.
Alas! Fie! Deceived by affection, they then spoke to one another.
And burned by the use of deceit, each in their own task, by illusion.
Placing Prahlāda at the front, they again followed Kāvyā.
Seeing them come again, Kāvyā addressed the sacrificial priests.
Therefore, because of that arrogance, you have gone to defeat.
Those who worship their own priests, and especially those who are devoted,
You ought not to protect those devotees of ours, having recognized them with your far-seeing eye.
Because you have condemned them today, I shall now enter the nethermost region.
Thus Śukra, being appeased in this way, gradually let go of his anger.
This event was indeed destined to happen, and it has come to you while I was awake.
The consciousness that was lost—surely, you will regain it as you desire.
And by my favor, you have enjoyed the strength of the three worlds.
Brahmā declared the sovereignty would last only for that period.
In the future, your grandson Bali will become the lord of the worlds again.
When the worlds were thus taken away, there was indeed no grief.
Therefore, the pleased Unborn One granted (the worlds) for the Sāvarṇi Manvantara.
