प्रजेशत्वं धनेशत्वमवध्यत्वं च वै ददौ
He granted lordship over creatures, wealth, and invulnerability.
हर्षात्प्रादुर्बभौ तस्य दिव्यं स्तोत्रं महेशितुः
Out of joy, a divine hymn to the great lord arose from him.
नमो ऽस्तु शितिकण्ठाय सुराद्याय सुवर्चसे
Homage to Śitikaṇṭha, chief among gods, of splendid radiance.
कपर्दिने ह्यूर्द्ध्वरोम्णे हर्यक्षवरदाय च
To the matted-haired one, with hair standing upward, granter of boons to the tawny-eyed.
उष्णीषिणे सुवक्त्राय सहस्राक्षाय मीढुषे
To the turbaned one, of beautiful face, thousand-eyed, the gracious.
निस्वाय मुक्तकेशाय सेनान्ये रोहिताय च
To the deep-breathed, loose-haired one, commander, and the red-hued.
गिरिशायार्कनेत्राय यतये चाज्यपाय च
To the lord of mountains, sun-eyed, ascetic, and receiver of oblations.
सहस्रबाहवे चैव सहस्रामलचक्षुषे
To the thousand-armed, and the one with a thousand pure eyes.
सहस्रशिरसे चैव बहुरूपाय वेधसे
Salutation to the thousand-headed, the manifold-formed, the Creator.
निषङ्गिणे कवचिने सूक्ष्माय क्षपणाय च
To the bearer of the sword, the armored one, the subtle, and the destroyer.
महादेवाय सर्वाय विश्वरूपशिवाय च
To the great god, the all-pervading, the universal-form Shiva.
धाम्ने चैव पिशङ्गाय पिङ्गलायारुणाय च
To the radiant one, tawny, reddish-brown, and crimson-hued.
मृगव्याधाय सर्वाय स्थाणवे भीषणाय च
To the hunter, the all-encompassing, the steadfast, and the fearsome.
कपिलोयैकवीराय मृत्यवे त्र्यंबकाय च
To the tawny one, the solitary hero, to Death, and to the three-eyed one.
आरण्याय गृहस्थाय यतिने बह्मचारिणे
To the forest-dweller, the householder, the ascetic, and the celibate.
अन्तर्हिताय सर्वाय तप्याय व्यापिने तथा
To the hidden one, the all-pervading, the austere, and the all-pervasive.
रोधसे चैकितानाय ब्रह्मिष्ठाय महार्षये
To the restrainer, the wise one, the most Brahman-like, the great sage.
शिखण्डिने कपालाय दण्डिने विश्वमेधसे
To the crested one, the skull-bearer, the staff-holder, the all-sacrificing.
क्रूराय विकृतायैव बीभत्साय शिवाय च
To the fierce, the deformed, the terrifying, and the auspicious.
पिशिताशाय शर्वाय मेघाय वैद्युताय च
To the flesh-eater, the destroyer, the cloud-like, and the lightning-like.
अनामयाय चेध्माय हिरण्यायैकचक्षुषे
To the disease-free, the fuel, the golden one, and the one-eyed.
महाकल्पाय दीप्ताय रोदनाय हसाय च
To the great aeon, the radiant, the weeping, and the laughing one.
भृगुनाथाय शुक्राय गह्वरिष्ठाय धीमते
To the lord of Bhṛgu, to Śukra, the cave-dweller, the wise.
दिग्वासः कृत्तिवासाय भगघ्नाय नमो ऽस्तु ते
To the sky-clad, the hide-clad, the destroyer of Bhaga—salutations to you.
प्रभवे ऋग्यजुःसाम्ने स्वाहायै च सुधाय च
To the lord, to Ṛc, Yajus, and Sāman, to Svāhā and to nectar.
स्रष्ट्रे धात्रे तथा कर्त्रे हर्त्रे च क्षपणाय च
To the creator, the sustainer, the doer, the destroyer, and the annihilator.
वसवे चैव साध्याय रुद्रादित्याश्विनाय च
To Indra, to the Sādhyas, to the Rudras, Ādityas, and Aśvins—
अग्नीषोमविधिज्ञाय पशुमन्त्रौ षधाय च
To the knower of the Agni-Soma rites, to the one versed in the mantras for cattle and plants—
तपसे चैव सत्याय त्यागाय च शमाय च
To austerity, to truth, to renunciation, and to tranquility—
सर्वभूतात्प्रभूताय तुभ्यं योगात्मने नमः
To you, source of all beings, embodiment of yoga, I bow.
