Then we shall fight the gods again, and you will surely obtain victory.
We all lay down our weapons; you may go to the worlds as you wish.
Hearing Prahlāda’s words, they recognized them as true and steadfast.
When the Daityas had laid down their weapons, they returned to their own as they had come.
Untroubled and devoted to austerity, time accomplishes its intended purpose.
Having instructed the gods, Kāvya then approached the great Lord.
"O Lord, I desire those mantras which are not with Bṛhaspati."
Thus addressed, the god said, "You indeed desire the mantras, O twice-born."
"For a thousand years, with head downward in the smoke of the fire-pit—"
Thus spoken to by the Lord of gods, Śukra, of great austerity, [replied].
"I shall undertake the vow, O Lord, as you have instructed, O mighty one."
For the sake of the welfare of the Asuras, when Śukra had departed then—
Knowing this, the Asuras prudently entrusted their kingdom.
All, with weapons in hand and led by Bṛhaspati—
Suddenly all of them rose up, and then they became afraid.
Abandoning the agreement, the gods, intent on destroying their rivals—
Clad in bark, skin, and antelope hide, inactive and possessing nothing—
"Without fighting, let us seek refuge with Kāvya's mother."
To those Daityas who were fearful and sought safety, protection was given.
They attacked these [Daityas] by force, having considered their strength and weakness.
The goddess, enraged, said to them, "I shall deprive you of Indrahood."
Then, seeing Śakra paralyzed, the gods became as if bewildered.
When the assembly of gods had departed, Viṣṇu spoke to Indra.
Thus addressed, Viṣṇu then entered together with Purandara.
With force, O Maghavan, I will burn her together with you, by Viṣṇu.
Overpowered by her, those two gods, Indra and Viṣṇu, conversed.
Indra said: 'Strike her down before she burns us both.'
Then, observing her, Viṣṇu prepared to slay the woman.
As she hastened, the slayer of Mura acted swiftly.
Mādhava, enraged, invoked his weapon and severed her head.
