तस्य शूरस्य तु सुता जज्ञिरे बलवत्तराः
To Śūra, sons were born who were even more powerful.
शमी च गदवर्मा च निदान्तः खलु शत्रुजित्
Śamī, Gadavarmā, Nidānta, and indeed Śatrujit.
स्वयंभोजः स्वयंभोजाद्धृदिकः संबभूव ह
Svayaṃbhoja was born, and from Svayaṃbhoja came Hṛdika.
कृतवर्माग्रजस्तेषां शतधन्वा तु मध्यमः
Among them, Kṛtavarmā was the eldest, and Śatadhanvā was the middle one.
सुदान्तश्चाधिदान्तश्च कनकः कनकोद्भवः
Sudānta, Adhidānta, Kanaka, and Kanakodbhava.
असमौजाः सुतस्तस्य सुसमौजाश्च विश्रुतः
Asamaujā was his son, and Susamaujā, famed among men.
सुचन्द्रं वसुरूपं च कृष्ण इत्यन्धकाः स्मृताः
Sucandra, Vasurūpa, and Kṛṣṇa—these are known as the Andhakas.
आत्मनो विपुलं वंशं लभते नात्र संशयः
He attains a vast lineage; of this there is no doubt.
मारिष्यां जज्ञिरे शूराद्भोजायां पुरुषा दश
From Māriṣā, Śūra begot ten sons upon Bhojā.
जज्ञे तस्य प्रसूतस्य दुन्दुभिः प्राणदद्दिवि
From his offspring, Dundubhi was born, who resounded in heaven.
पपात पुष्पवर्षं च शरस्य भवने महत्
A great shower of flowers fell in the house of Shara.
यस्यासीत्पुरुषाग्र्यस्य कान्तिश्चन्द्रमसो यथा
He whose foremost son possessed a radiance like that of the moon.
अनाधृष्टिवृकश्चैव नन्दनश्चैव सृंजयः
Anādhṛṣṭi, Vṛka, Nandana, and Sṛñjaya as well.
पृथा च श्रुतदेवा च श्रुतकीर्तिः श्रुत श्रवाः
Pṛthā, Śrutadevā, Śrutakīrti, and Śrutaśravā.
पृथां दुहितरं शूरः कुन्तिभोजाय वै ददौ
The valiant one gave his daughter Pṛthā to Kuntibhoja.
कुरुवीरः पाण्डुमुख्यस्तस्माद्भार्यामविन्दत
From him, the chief among the Kurus, Pāṇḍu obtained a wife.
लोके प्रतिरथान्वीराञ्छक्रतुल्यपराक्रमान्
In the world, heroes equal to great chariot-warriors, possessing valor like Indra.
इन्द्राद्धनञ्जयं चैव पृथा पुत्रानजीचनत्
From Indra, Pṛthā obtained Dhanañjaya as a son.
नकुलः सहदेवश्च रुपसत्त्वगुणान्वितौ
Nakula and Sahadeva, endowed with beauty, strength, and virtue.
करूषाधिपतेर्ंवीरो दन्तवक्रो महाबलः
The mighty hero Dantavakra, lord of the Karūṣas.
चेकितानबृहत्क्षत्रौ तथैवान्यौ महाबलौ
Cekitāna and Bṛhatkṣatra, and likewise other mighty ones.
श्रुतश्रवायां चैद्यस्तु शिशुपालो बभूव ह
From Śrutaśravā was born the Caidya, Śiśupāla.
यः पुरा सदशग्रीवः संबभूवारिमर्दनः
He who was formerly Sadaśagrīva became the crusher of enemies.
वैश्रवाणानुजस्तस्य कुंभकर्णो ऽनुजस्तथा पत्न्यस्तु वसुदेवस्य त्रयोदश वराङ्गनाः
Vaiśravaṇa's younger brother was his, and likewise Kumbhakarṇa was his younger brother; Vasudeva had thirteen wives of excellent beauty.
तथैव भद्रवैशाखी सुनाम्नी पञ्चमी तथा
Likewise, Bhadrā, Vaiśākhī, Sunāmnī, and the fifth, Pañcamī.
धृतदेवोपदेवा च देवकी सप्तमी तथा
Dhṛtadevā, Upadevā, and Devakī, the seventh.
रोहिणी पौरवी चैव बाह्लीकस्यानुजाभवत्
Rohiṇī and Pauravī, who was the younger sister of Bāhlīka.
ज्येष्ठे लेभे सुतं रामं सारणं हि शठं तथा
To the eldest, he obtained the son Rāma, as well as Sāraṇa and Śaṭha.
चित्रां नाम कुमारीं च रोहिण्यष्टौ व्यजायत
Rohiṇī bore a daughter named Citrā and eight sons.
पार्श्वी च पार्श्वमर्दी च शिशुः सत्यधृतिस्तथा
Pārśvī, Pārśvamardī, Śiśu, and Satyadhṛti as well.
