निवसंती न वै जज्ञे गर्भस्थां तां पिताब्रवीत्
While she was dwelling there, she was not born; her father spoke to her while she was in the womb.
प्रोवाच चैनं गर्भस्था सा कन्या गां दिने दिने
That maiden, while in the womb, spoke to him, saying, 'Give a cow every day.'
तथेत्युवाच तां तस्याः पिता काममपूरयत्
Her father replied, 'So be it,' and fulfilled her wish.
तस्याः पुत्रः स्मृतो ऽक्रूरः श्वाफल्को भूरिदक्षिणः
Her son is known as Akrura, Śvaphalka, and Bhūridakṣiṇa.
गिरिरक्षस्ततो यक्षः शत्रुघ्नो ऽथारिमर्दनः
Then Giriraksha, a Yaksha, Shatrughna, and Arimardana were born.
आवाहप्रतिवाहौ च वसुदेवा वराङ्गना

देववानुपदेवश्च जज्ञाते देवसंनिभौ

अश्वग्रीवो ऽश्ववाहश्च सुपार्श्वकगवेषणौ
Ashvagriva and Ashvavaha, along with Suparshvaka and Gaveshana, were born.
अभूमिर्बहुभूमिश्च श्रविष्ठाश्रवणे स्त्रियौ
Abhumi and Bahubhumi, and the two women Shraviṣṭha and Shravaṇi, were born.
कुकुरं भजमानं च शुचिं कंबल बर्हिषम्
Kukura, Bhajamana, Shuchi, Kambala, and Barhisha were born.
कपोतरोमा तस्याथ विलोमाभवदात्मजः
To him, Kapotaroma, a son named Viloma was then born.
ख्यायते यस्य नामान्यच्चन्दनोदकदुन्दुभिः
He whose other names are Chandana, Udaka, and Dundubhi is renowned.
अश्वमेधं तु पुत्रार्थमाजहार नरोत्तमः

ततस्तु विद्वान्धर्मज्ञो दाता यज्वा पुनर्वसुः
Then Punarvasu, learned, righteous, generous, and a performer of sacrifices, was born.
आहुकश्चाहुकी चैव ख्यातौ मतिमतां वरौ
Ahuka and Ahuki, both renowned and foremost among the wise, were born.
सोपासांगानुकर्षाणां सध्वजानां वरूथिनाम्
He had followers with attendants, with banners, and with troops.
नासत्यवादी चासीत्तु नायज्ञो नासहस्रदः
There was no one who spoke untruth, no one who neglected sacrifice, and no one who failed to give thousands.
आर्द्रकस्य धृतिः पुत्र इत्येवमनुशुश्रुम्
