By whatever name, the Kṣatriyas attained the status of Brāhmaṇas.
Thus addressed, he spoke these meaningful words.
One who performs sacrifice desiring righteousness does not obtain the fruit of righteousness.
He who, filled with attachment and delusion, gives at the end for the sake of purification—
For such a person, engaged in righteousness but violent and wicked—
The gift made with impure action does not endure for the wicked.
He who sacrifices and gives without fixing his mind on desires—
By giving, one attains enjoyments; by truth, one goes to heaven.
But truth is superior to austerity; therefore, knowledge is remembered as the highest by the wise.

All these royal sages attained great perfection.
Now, listen as I declare the lineage of the great-souled Āyu.
Thus ends the sixty-sixth chapter, named 'The Account of the Descendants of Amāvasu,' in the Bhārgava narrative, the third section, in the middle part, spoken by Vāyu, of the glorious Brahmāṇḍa Mahāpurāṇa.
From Svarbhānu, in the line of Prabhā, these kings were born.

Śaunaka and Ṛṣṭiṣeṇa, brahmins accompanied by kṣatriyas,
And Dhanva, who was steadfast in long austerities, and then the learned Dhanvantari.
Then those sages again addressed the Sūta with these words:
We wish to know this; tell it to us, O subduer of foes.
