Thus ends the sixty-fifth chapter, entitled 'The Account of the Birth of Soma and Saumya,' in the third section, Upoddhāta, of the middle part of the glorious Brahmāṇḍa Mahāpurāṇa, as spoken by Vāyu.
He was radiant, generous, a giver, a performer of sacrifices with abundant gifts.
He was the sacrificer, the performer of Agnihotra and other sacrifices, and lord of the earth.
In all three worlds, there was none to match him in beauty.
Urvaśī, renowned, chose him, setting aside her pride.
He, full of vigor, had seven, six, seven, eight, ten, and eight sons.
In Alakā, the vast city, and in Nandana, the most excellent forest,
having reached the northern Kurus and also the village of Kalāpa,
the king, greatly honored by Urvaśī, delighted in supreme joy.
But having left him, she departed; tell us, then, what wrong was done.
For the sake of releasing herself from her own curse, she undertook a vow.

the king observed all of her conditions completely.
Then, for sixty-four years, bewitched by the curse, he served her with devotion.
Consider, O highly fortunate ones, how that most excellent woman—
Then Viśvāvasu by name, a Gandharva of great wisdom,
afflicted by separation from her, wandered about seeking Urvaśī.

Once there was a single fire; Aila divided it into three.
In the most sacred land, adorned by great sages,
on the northern bank of the Yamunā, at Pratiṣṭhāna, renowned far and wide,
in the world of the Gandharvas, Āyus, Dhīmān, and Āvasu became known.
To Amāvasu was born Bhīma, the king, and then Viśvacit.

Then, having returned, Gaṅgā was present at the extended sacrifice.
Seeing the sacrificial enclosure entirely flooded by Gaṅgā,
At that time, seeing Gaṅgā drunk by the royal sage, the divine sages—
Jahnu took Kāverī, the granddaughter of Yauvanāśva,
Kāverī, the best of rivers, blameless and wife of Jahnu,
