Slaying, he roamed the earth without ceasing for two years.
By him, the earth was made thrice seven times devoid of kṣatriyas.
Thus, by Rāma, the kṣatriya race was eradicated from the earth.
Thus ends the forty-sixth chapter, the Bhārgava narrative, in the third section of the middle part of the venerable Brahmāṇḍa Mahāpurāṇa, as spoken by Vāyu.
Rāma seized alive twelve thousand men.
That mighty one went to Kurukṣetra, filled with austerity.
He made those sacred bathing places all around pleasant for immersion.
Bhārgava filled those five lakes.
He satisfied the ancestors, untiring, according to the scriptures.
There, together with the brāhmaṇas and his mother, he performed the prescribed rites.
He remained there, tireless and attentive, wholly devoted to the worship of the ancestors.
The rite was established by Jāmadagnya in the sacred grove at Kurukṣetra.
There, the foremost of the Bhṛgus performed a sacrifice, granting the ancestors inexhaustible satisfaction.
By him, all those ancestors were abundantly nourished there.
That holy place, renowned in the world, is called Samantapañcaka.
There, all the sins of mortals who go are indeed destroyed.
The journey to that field, for mortals who are unrighteous, is here inauspicious.
Samantapañcaka is a most purifying holy place in Kurukṣetra.
Then Rāma, having fulfilled his duties, was wholly satisfied in his desires.
Afterwards, at the end of the year, the self-controlled one, together with the brāhmaṇas—
Then, having gone there, the subduer of enemies performed the śrāddha according to the scriptures.
There, the supreme Śaiva place is known as Candrapāda.
There, the ancestors were worshipped by their own descendants, each according to their ability, even if only a little.
There, for the sake of the ancestors, when the twice-born were satisfied with offerings—
Then all those ancestors came from the world of the ancestors.
With minds filled with joy, they approached the descendant of Bhṛgu.
O hero, you have performed a great deed, exceedingly difficult for others.
Even so, you do not grant us everlasting satisfaction.
By the power of this sacred place and through your devotion, you have obtained this vision.
Therefore, you have come for the pacification of sins such as the slaying of warriors.
