वक्रीभविष्यत्तुण्डत्वाद्वक्रतुण्डः स्मृतो बुधैः
Because his snout became curved, the wise remember him as Vakratunda.
स्मरणात्पापहारीणि त्रिकालानुगतान्यपि
By remembering him, sins are removed, even those that follow through the three times.
मयास्मै तु वरो दत्तः सर्गदेवाग्रपूजने
I have granted him a boon for being worshipped first among the gods at creation.
यात्रायां च वणिज्यादौ युद्धे देवार्चने शुभे
In journeys, at the beginning of trade, in battle, and in auspicious worship of the gods,
तस्य सर्वाणि कार्याणि सिद्ध्यन्त्येव न संशयः
All tasks of his are accomplished, without doubt.
पार्वती जगतां नाथा विस्मितासीच्छुभानना
Parvati, the mistress of the worlds, was amazed, her face radiant.
तदा राधाब्रवीद्देवीं शिवरूपा सनातनी
Then Rādhā spoke to the goddess, the eternal one in the form of Śiva.
द्विधा भिन्नौ प्रकाशेते प्रपञ्चे ऽस्मिन् यथा तथा
They appear divided in two, manifest in this world just so.
विष्णुस्त्वमहमेवास्मि शिवो द्विगुणतां गतः
You are Viṣṇu, and I myself am Śiva, who has attained a dual nature.
मम रूपं समास्थाय विष्णोश्च हृदये शिवः
Assuming my form, Śiva resides in the heart of Viṣṇu.
गणेशो ऽयं शिवः साक्षाद्वैष्णवत्वं समास्थितः
This Gaṇeśa is Śiva himself, who has assumed a Vaiṣṇava nature.
एवामुक्त्वा तु सा राधा क्रोडे कृत्वा गजाननम्
Having spoken thus, Rādhā took Gajānana into her embrace.
स्पृष्टमात्रे कपोले तु क्षतं पूर्त्तिमुदागतम्
At the mere touch upon his cheek, the wound was filled with joy.
पादयोः पतितं राममुत्थाप्य निजपाणिना
Rāma, fallen at their feet, was raised up by her own hand.
एवं तयोस्तु सत्कारं दृष्ट्वा रामगणेशयोः
Seeing the honor shown by Rāma and Gaṇeśa to each other in this way,
अथ शंभुरपि प्रीतः श्रीदामानम् पस्थितम्
Then Śaṃbhu, pleased, welcomed Śrīdāmā, who had arrived.
स्वोत्संगे स्थापयामास प्रेम्णा मत्कृत्य मानदः
He placed him upon his own lap with affection, granting him respect for my sake.
उपोद्धातपादे भार्गवचरिते द्विचत्वारिंशत्तमो ऽध्यायः

भवान्युत्संगतो रामः समुत्थाय कृताजलिः
Rāma, rising from Bhavānī's lap, stood with joined palms.
अद्वयं द्वैतमापन्नं निर्गुणं सगुणात्मकम्
The nondual has become dual, the attributeless has taken on attributes.
अविदिततनुनामाभीष्टवस्त्वेकधामाभवदथ भव भामा पातु मां पूर्णकामा
Unknown in form and name, yet the desired object is one abode; may Bhava and Bhāmā, fulfilled in all wishes, protect me.
तदिह निखिलतातः संबभूवोक्षपातः कृतकृतकनिपातः पातु मामद्य मातः
Here, O universal father, the shower of grace has arisen; may you, O mother, who bestows both accomplished and unaccomplished, protect me today.
प्रसभरचितकाशी भक्तदत्ताखिलाशीरवतु विजितपाशी मांसदा षण्मुखाशी
May the six-faced one, who is eager, who grants all blessings to devotees, who has conquered bondage, and who gives flesh, protect me.
हरकृतबहुमानो गोपिकेशैकतानो विदितबहुविधानो जायतां कीर्तिहा नौ
May he whose honor was bestowed by Hara, whose unity is with Gopikeśa, whose many forms are known, bring us fame.
सकलगुणगरिष्ठो राधिकाङ्केनिविष्टो मम कृतमपराधं क्षन्तुमर्हत्वगाधम्
May he, the foremost in all virtues, embraced by Rādhikā, forgive my deep offense.
रासेशी रसिकेश्वरी रमणत्दृन्निष्ठानिजानन्दिनी नेत्री सा परिपातु मामवनतं राधेति य कीर्त्यते
May she, called Rādhā—queen of the dance, sovereign of delight, who brings joy to those devoted to her beloved, and who leads those surrendered—protect me, bowed before her.
यस्या गर्भसमुद्भवो ह्यतिविराड्यस्यांशभूतो विराट् यन्नाभ्यंबुरुहोद्भवेन विधिनैकान्तोपदिष्टेन वै सृष्टं सर्वमिदं चराचरमयं विश्वं च यद्रोमसु ब्रह्माण्डानि विभान्ति तस्य जननी शश्वत्प्रसन्नास्तु सा
She from whom the cosmic being was born, of whom Virāṭ is a portion, from whose navel-lotus Brahmā arose and, instructed by her alone, created all this moving and unmoving universe, in whose pores countless universes shine—may that eternal, gracious mother be ever pleased.
कृष्णः पूर्णतमो ममोपरि दयाक्लिन्नान्तरः स्तात्सदा येनाहं सुकृती भवामि च भवाम्यानन्दलीनान्तरः
May Kṛṣṇa, the most complete, whose heart is filled with compassion toward me, always remain, by whom I become virtuous and my inner being immersed in bliss.
विज्ञाताखिलतत्त्वार्थो हृष्टरोमा कृतार्थवत्
One who has understood the meaning of all truths stands fulfilled, with hair standing on end in joy.
भार्गवं प्रणतं भक्त्या कृपापात्रं पुरस्थितम्
He who is descended from Bhṛgu, bowed in devotion, stands before as a vessel of grace.
