मुरलीवादनपरः साक्षान्मोहनरूपधृक्
Engaged in playing the flute, bearing the form of enchantment itself.
प्रणम्य दण्डवद्भमौ तुष्टाव प्रयतो विभुम्
Having bowed prostrate on the ground, he praised the Lord with devotion.
ब्रह्मेशविष्ण्विद्रमुखस्तुताय नतो ऽस्मि नित्यं परमेश्वराय
I bow always to the Supreme Lord, praised by Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu, and Indra.
तं त्वामनिर्देश्यमचं पुराममनन्तमीडे भव मे दयापरः
I praise you, the indescribable, ancient, infinite one; be compassionate to me.
नाना विधा देवमनुष्यतिर्यग्यादः सु भूमेर्भरवारणाय
Of many kinds—god, human, animal, and others—you bear the weight of the earth.
स्वयं समक्षंव्यभिचारदुष्टचित्तास्वपि प्रेमनिबद्धमानसम्
Even among those with corrupt minds, bound by love, you are present directly.
गताः स्वरूपं निखलं विहाय ते देहस्त्र्यपत्यार्थममत्वमीश्वर
Having abandoned your entire form, you took a body for the sake of wife and child, O Lord.
अचिन्त्यमव्यक्तमघौघनाशनं प्राप्तो ऽरणं प्रेमनिधानमादरात्
The inconceivable, unmanifest, destroyer of heaps of sin, attained the forest, the treasure of love, with reverence.
स्वप्ने ऽपि ते रूपमलौकिकंविभो पश्यन्ति नैवार्थनिबद्धवासनाः
Even in dreams, O Lord, those whose minds are not bound by desires for objects do not perceive Your extraordinary form.
नमन्ति भक्त्याथ समर्चयन्ति वै परस्परं संसदि वर्णयन्ति
They bow with devotion, then worship, and in assemblies, they praise one another.
तरन्ति चान्यानपि तारयन्ति हि भवौषधं नाम सुधा तवेश
They cross over and lead others across as well; O Lord, Your nectar is called the medicine for worldly existence.
आराधयं नाथ भवानभिज्ञः किं ते ह विज्ञाप्यमिहास्ति लोके
O Master, having worshipped You, one becomes wise; what, then, remains to be made known in this world?
उवाचागाधया वाचा मोहयन्निव मायया
He spoke with profound words, as if bewildering by his illusion.
कवचस्य स्तवस्यापि प्रभावादवधारय
Discern the power of the armor and the hymn as well.
साधयित्वा पितुर्वैरं कुरु निःक्षत्रियां महीम्
Having accomplished your father's vengeance, make the earth devoid of Kshatriyas.
कृतकार्यो द्विजश्रेष्ट तं समापय मानद
O best of twice-born, having fulfilled your task, complete it, O giver of honor.
चरिष्यति यथा कालं कर्त्ता हर्त्ता स्वयं प्रभुः
He will act as time dictates, being himself the creator and destroyer, the Lord.
रामो नाम भविष्यामि चतुर्व्यूहः सनातनः
I shall become Rama, the eternal fourfold manifestation.
तदा कौशिकयज्ञं तु साधयित्वा सलक्ष्मणः
Then, having accomplished the Kauśika sacrifice together with Lakshmana,
तत्रेशचापं निर्भज्य परिणीय विदेहजाम्
There, having broken the Lord's bow and married the daughter of Videha,
पश्यतोंऽतर्दधे तत्र रामस्य मुमहात्मनः
While Rama, the great soul, was watching, He vanished there.
उपोद्धातपादे भर्गवचरिते सप्तत्रिंशत्तमो ऽध्यायः
