Having seen his father insulted by Kārtavīrya, indeed—
Desiring to restore him, he once went to the world of Brahmā.
Having received his command, he then went to the presence of Śiva.
That compassionate Mahādeva, honoring the son of Bhṛgu—
Gave him his own Pāśupata weapon, and indeed a collection of other weapons.
Now he has come here, O gentle one, intent on fulfilling his vow.
A hundred years have indeed passed for this great soul.
Here, the reason is devotion, which is considered to be of three kinds.
Of Śiva, of Nārada, and also of the great soul Śuka,
Of Bali, of Vibhīṣaṇa, and of the great soul Prahlāda,
Of Vasiṣṭha and other great sages, and of the Manus, who are auspicious to behold.
This is the middle devotion—Rāma, ever devoted to self-restraint.
Thus addressed, the doe, her heart delighted, swiftly approached her beloved.
How did knowledge of the Self arise in you? Tell that now.
Listen, dear one, greatly fortunate; knowledge is born from merit.
This Bhārgava is virtuous, devoted to Kṛṣṇa, and master of his senses.
Today, I have come to know the intent of this great soul.
Whatever he will do is also within the scope of knowledge.
Even the armor, together with the mantra, for tens of thousands of years,
The hymn called 'The Nectar of Love for Kṛṣṇa' bestows supreme devotion.
That sage, knowing the true meaning, compassionate, bestows fearlessness.
Because all the deeds of Śrī Kṛṣṇa are woven together with names.
Then, with the perfected armor, to the king, lord of the Haihayas,
He will make the earth free of kings three times seven times, dear one.
He understood the cause of his own condition as a deer.
Chapter Thirty-Four of the Bhārgava narrative, in the introductory section.
How can there be grace for one whose mind is not absorbed in devotion to the Blessed Lord?
Having heard from the mouth of the deer all that Bhārgava had done,
Again she asked, 'O master, tell me this in detail.'
As she had questioned, he, who knew the truth, described it to her.
