नमस्कृत्य शिवं शान्तं दुर्गां स्कन्दं गणेश्वरम्
Having bowed to peaceful Shiva, to Durga, to Skanda, and to the lord of the Ganas,
सिद्धं कृत्वा शिवोक्तं तु मन्त्रं कवचमुत्तमम्
Having perfected the mantra and the supreme armor spoken by Shiva,
विनिवृत्तो गृहं प्रागात्पितुः स्वस्य भृगूद्वहः
The best of the Bhrigus, having completed this, returned home to his father.
इति श्रीब्रह्माण्डे महापुराणे वायुप्रोक्ते मध्यभागे तृतीय उपोद्धातपादे भार्गवचरिते द्वात्रिंशत्तमो ऽध्यायः
Thus ends the thirty-second chapter, called 'The Deeds of Bhargava,' in the middle section of the third upoddhata, as spoken by Vayu, in the glorious Brahmanda Mahapurana.
कवचं वद सर्वत्र त्रैलोक्यविजयप्रदम्
Speak of the armor that everywhere bestows victory over the three worlds.
मन्त्र च सिद्धिद शश्वत्साधकानां सुखावहम्
And the mantra, which always grants success and brings happiness to practitioners.
स्वाहान्तो ऽयं महामन्त्रो दशार्णो भुक्तिमुक्तिदः
This great mantra, ending with 'svāhā', of ten syllables, bestows both enjoyment and liberation.
देवता कृष्ण उदितो विनियोगो ऽखिलाप्तये
The deity is Krishna, declared for the purpose of attaining all things.
ऋषिश्छन्दश्च जगती देवो राजेश्वरः स्वयम्
The seer and the meter is Jagatī; the god is Rājeśvara himself.
प्रणवो मेशिरः पातु श्रीकृष्णाय नमः सदा
May the syllable 'Om' protect my head; always, obeisance to Śrī Krishna.
कृष्णेति पातु नेत्रे मे कृष्णस्वाहेति तारकाम्
May the word 'Krishna' protect my eyes, and 'Krishna svāhā' the star.
ॐ गोविन्दाय स्वाहेति नासिकां पातु संततम्
May 'Om Govindāya svāhā' always protect my nose.
क्लीं कृष्णाय नमः कर्णौं पातु कल्पतरुर्मम
May 'Klīṃ Krishnaaya namah' protect my ears; the wish-fulfilling tree is mine.
ॐ गोपीशाय स्वाहेति दन्तपङ्क्तिं ममावतु
May 'Om Gopīśāya svāhā' protect my rows of teeth.
ॐ श्रीकृष्णाय स्वाहेति जिह्विकां पातु मे सदा
May 'Om Śrī Krishnaaya svāhā' always protect my tongue.
राधिकेशाय स्वाहेति कण्ठं मे पातु सर्वदा
May 'Rādhikeśāya svāhā' always protect my throat.
ॐ गोपेशाय स्वाहेति स्कन्धौ पातु सदा मम
May 'Om Gopeśāya svāhā' always protect my shoulders.
उदरं पातु मे नित्यं मुकुन्दाय नमो मनुः
May 'Obeisance to Mukunda' always protect my abdomen.
ॐ विष्णवे नमः स्वाहा बाहुयुग्मं ममावतु
May 'Om Viṣṇave namaḥ svāhā' protect both my arms.
नमो नारायणायेति नखरन्ध्रं ममावतु
May 'Obeisance to Nārāyaṇa' protect the pores of my nails.
ॐ सर्वेशाय स्वाहेति केशान्मम सदावतु
May 'Om Sarveśāya svāhā' always protect my hair.
ॐ माधवाय स्वाहेति भालं मे सर्वदावतु
May 'Om Mādhavāya svāhā' always protect my forehead.
नमो गोपीजनेशाय ऊरू पातु सदा मम
Salutations to the Lord of the gopīs; may He always protect my thighs.
यशोदानन्दनायेति नमोतो जङ्घके ऽवतु
Salutations to the son of Yaśodā; may He protect my shanks.
वृन्दाप्रियाय स्वाहेति सकलाङ्गानि मे ऽवतु
To the beloved of Vṛndā, svāhā; may He protect all my limbs.
स्वयं गोलोकनाथो मामाग्नेय्यां दिशि रक्षतु
May the Lord of Goloka Himself protect me in the southeast direction.
नैरृत्यां पातु मां कृष्णाः पश्चिमे पातु मां हरिः
May Kṛṣṇa protect me in the southwest, and Hari protect me in the west.
ऐशान्यां मे सदा पातु वृन्दावनविहार कृत्
May He who delights in Vṛndāvana always protect me in the northeast.
सदैव मामधः पातु बलिध्वंसी महाबलः
May the mighty destroyer of Bali always protect me below.
स्वप्ने जागरणे चैव पातु मां माधवः स्वयम्
In both sleep and wakefulness, may Mādhava Himself protect me.
