नमो वेदान्तवेद्याय विश्वविज्ञानरूपिणे
Salutations to the one known through Vedanta, whose nature is universal knowledge.
श्रीकण्ठाय जगद्धात्रे लोककर्त्रे नमोनमः
Repeated salutations to Śrīkaṇṭha, sustainer of the world, creator of beings.
हिरण्यगर्भरूपाय हराय जगदादये
To Hara, whose form is Hiranyagarbha, origin of the universe.
सत्त्वविज्ञानरुपाय पराय प्रत्यगात्मने
To the supreme, inner Self, whose nature is pure consciousness.
क्ल्पान्ते रुद्ररूपाय परापर विदे नमः
Salutations to the one who is Rudra at the end of the kalpa, transcending both higher and lower.
बुद्धिबुद्धिप्रबोधाय बुद्धीन्द्रियविकारिणे
To the awakener of intellect and understanding, transformer of the senses.
यन्मायाभिन्नमतयो देवास्तस्मै नमोनमः
Salutations again and again to the one whose maya causes the gods' minds to be indistinguishable.
तव यत्तन्न जानन्ति योगिनो ऽपि सदामलाः
Even the ever-pure yogis do not know that which is yours.
संसरन्ति भवे नूनं न तत्कर्मात्मकाश्चिरम्
They surely wander in existence, for their nature is not entirely karma-based.
तावद्भ्रमति संसारे पण्डितो ऽचेतनो ऽपि वा
So long does one, whether learned or ignorant, roam in samsara.
भवतश्चरणांभोजे येन बुद्धिः स्थिरीकृता
By whom the intellect is made firm at your lotus feet.
विदुषामपि मूढेन स मया ज्ञायते कथम्
How can that be known by me, who am ignorant, even among the wise?
स्तोतुमप्यनलं सम्यक्त्वा महं जडधीर्यतः
I am not capable of praising you properly, for my mind is dull.
प्रीतश्च भव देवेश ननु त्वं भक्तवत्सलः
Yet, O Lord of gods, be pleased; indeed, you are compassionate to devotees.
मेघगंभीरया वाचा तमुवाच हसन्निव
With a voice deep as thunderclouds, he spoke to him, as if smiling.
तपसा मयि भक्त्या च स्तोत्रेण च विशेषतः
Through your austerity, devotion to me, and especially by your hymn,
तुभ्यं तत्तदशेषेण दास्याम्यहमशेषतः
I shall grant you, fully and without exception, all those things you desire.
कृताञ्जलिपुटो भूत्वा राजन्निदमुवाच ह
With hands joined in reverence, the king then spoke these words:
भवतस्तदभीप्सामि हेतुमस्त्राण्यशेषतः
From you, I desire all the weapons, along with their purposes, in their entirety.
लोकेषु मांरणेजेता न भवेत्त्वत्प्रसादतः
By your grace, let there be no one in the worlds who can defeat me in battle.
ददौ रामाय सुप्रीतः समन्त्राणि क्रमान्नृप
Pleased, he gave to Rāma, in due order, the missiles along with their mantras, O king.
प्रसादाभिमुखो रामं ग्राहयामास शङ्करः
Favorable in his grace, Śaṅkara caused Rāma to receive them.
इषुधी चाक्षयशरौ ददौ रामाय शङ्करः
Śaṅkara gave to Rāma an inexhaustible quiver and arrows.
सर्वशस्त्रसहं चित्रं कवचं च महाधनम्
He gave a wondrous armor, great and able to withstand all weapons.
स्वेच्छया धारणे शाक्तिं प्राणानां च नराधिप
He granted the power to wield them at will, and mastery over life-forces, O king.
तपः प्रभावं च महत्प्रददौ भार्गवाय सः
He bestowed upon Bhārgava his great ascetic power.
सहितः सकलैर्भूतैश्चामरैश्चन्द्रशेखरः
Accompanied by all beings and celestial attendants, the moon-crested one—
कृतकृत्यस्ततो रामो लब्ध्वा सर्वमभीप्सितम्
Having obtained all he desired, Rāma was now one whose purpose was fulfilled.
महोदर मदर्थे त्वमिदं सर्वमशेषतः
Mahodara, for my sake, you must send all of this, without exception.
रथचापादिकं सर्वं प्रहिणु त्वं मदन्तिकम्
Send to me all the chariots, bows, and other equipment.
