I roam with an even mind, eating various creatures.
Among things forbidden to eat, approach, or drink, or those desired, anywhere—
No one who has sought refuge receives approach or dwelling from me.
All know truly that this entire region is under my protection.
Thus, I have told you my story in its entirety.
Now, are you preparing to go elsewhere, or is there something you wish to do?

He stood silent for a moment, his face turned downward, reflecting a little.
Then he spoke words that were exceedingly clear in meaning and expression.
Because of their distinct origin, the arrows were likewise beautiful.
They became, both on earth and in the body, fully capable of granting the desired purpose.

I have come here now to practice austerity, as instructed by my teacher.
For a long time, I have been intent on worshipping here.
I seek to worship Śaṅkara, the three-eyed one, destroyer of sin, who is compassionate to devotees.

Association, living together, and even conversation—
Abandoning my own refuge, where shall I go, hungry as I am?
I will go elsewhere from here; I will not remain here, especially at a distance.
I cannot be moved from this place by any means.
Then the best of the Bhṛgus spoke these words again to the king:
One who is always engaged in wicked deeds is despised by all creatures.
How, then, should such a person not be abandoned by the virtuous, O fool?
