श्रोतव्यश्चैव सततं ग्राह्यश्चैवानसूयतः
This should always be heard and accepted without envy.
अपत्यलाभं लभते च पुष्कलं प्रियं धनं प्रेत्य च शोभनां गतिम्
One obtains abundant offspring, beloved wealth, and after death, an auspicious state.
प्रतिष्ठितासु सर्वासु चरासु स्थावरासु च
When all moving and unmoving beings had been established—
ततः क्रमेण राज्यानि आदेष्टुमुपचक्रमे
Then, in due order, he began to assign the kingdoms.
यज्ञानां तपसां चैव सोमं राज्ये ऽभ्यषेचयत्
He anointed Soma as the sovereign over sacrifices and austerities.
भृगूणामधिपं चैव काव्यं राज्ये ऽभ्यषेचयत्
He anointed Kāvya, the lord of the Bhṛgus, as king.
प्रजापतीनां दक्षं च मरुतामथ वासवम्
He anointed Dakṣa among the Prajāpatis, and Vāsava among the Maruts.
नारायणं तु साध्यानां रुद्रणां च वृषध्वजम्
He anointed Nārāyaṇa among the Sādhyas, and Vṛṣadhvaja among the Rudras.
अपां च वरुणं राज्ये राज्ञां वैश्रवणं तथा

सरीसृपाणां सर्पाणां पन्नगानां च तक्षकम्
He anointed Takṣaka among reptiles, serpents, and nāgas.
आदित्यानामन्यतमं पर्जन्यमभिषिक्तवान्
He anointed Parjanya, one among the Ādityas.
ऋतूनामथ मासानामार्त्तवानां तथैव च
He anointed the seasons among the Ṛtus, and likewise among the months and periods.
कलाकाष्ठाप्रमाणानां गतेरयनयोस्तथा
He anointed the measures of time—kalās, kāṣṭhās, and likewise the movements of the solstices.
प्रजापतेर्विरजसः पूर्वस्यां दिशि विश्रुतम्
He anointed Virajas, the Prajāpati renowned in the eastern direction.

एवमन्ये ऽभिषिच्यन्ते प्राप्ते मन्वन्तरे पुनः
In the same way, others are anointed again when a new Manvantara arrives.
राजसूये ऽभिषिक्तश्च पृथु रेभिर्नरोत्तमः
And Pṛthu, the best of men, was consecrated in the Rājasūya sacrifice by the Rebhis.
एतानुत्पाद्य पुत्रांस्तु प्रजासन्तानकारणात्
Having produced these sons for the sake of continuing the generations,
कश्यपो गोत्रकामस्तु चचार परमं तपः
Kaśyapa, desiring progeny for his lineage, performed supreme austerity.
