एवन्धनेन रूपेण आयुषा च बलेन च
In wealth, form, lifespan, and strength,
देवासुरेभ्यो हीयन्ते त्रींस्त्रीन्पादान्परस्परम्
The gods and asuras are less than each other by three parts.
अतः शृणुत भद्रं वः प्रजाः क्रोधवशान्वयाः
Therefore, listen, may good fortune be yours, O offspring of those ruled by anger.
ता भार्या पुलहस्यासन्नामतो मे निबोधत
Those wives belonged to Pulaha; now hear their names from me.
भूता च कपिशा दंष्ट्रा ऋषा तिर्या तथैव च
Bhūtā, Kapiśā, Daṃṣṭrā, Ṛṣā, and Tiryā likewise.
मृग्यास्तु हरिगाः पुत्रा मृगश्चान्ये शशास्तथा
Among the wild animals, the offspring are the monkeys; others are deer and hares.
ऋक्षाश्च मृगमन्दाया गवयाश्चापरे तथा
The bears are from Mṛgamandā, and others are gavayas as well.
हर्य्या स्तु हरयः पुत्रा गोलाङ्गूलास्तरक्षवः
From Haryā, the offspring are monkeys, golāṅgūlas, and tigers.
सिंहाव्याघ्राश्च नीलाश्चद्वीपिनः क्रोधिताधराः
Lions, tigers, blue panthers, and other wild beasts with fierce jaws.
मण्डूका नकुलाश्चैव वल्कका वनगोचराः
Frogs, mongooses, and valkakas, those who dwell in the forest.
रणचन्द्रं शतमुखं दरीमुखमथापि च
Raṇacandra, Śatamukha, Darīmukha, and others as well.
प्रथितं मथितं चैव हरिणं लाङ्गलिं तथा
Prathita, Mathita, Hariṇa, and Lāṅgali likewise.
ऊर्द्ध्वदृष्टिः कृताहारः सुव्रतो विनतो बुधः
With upward gaze, having taken food, virtuous, humble, and wise.
क्षेममूर्तिश्च बलवान् राजानः सर्व एव ते
Kṣemamūrti, powerful, and all those kings as well.
अशक्याः समरेजेतुं देवदानवमानवैः
They cannot be defeated in battle by gods, demons, or humans.
नाग्निशस्त्रविषैरन्यैर्मृत्युरेषां विधीयते
Neither fire, weapons, poison, nor anything else can bring them death.
पाताले च जले वायौ ह्यविनाशिन एव ते
In the underworld, in water, or in air, they are truly indestructible.
महापद्मसहस्राणि महापद्मशतानि च
Thousands of great Padmas and hundreds of great Padmas.
नियुतानां सहस्राणि निखर्वाणां तथै व च
Thousands of niyutas and countless nikharvas likewise.
अर्बुदानां च लक्षं तु कोटीशतमथापरम्
A hundred thousand arbuda, and another hundred million koṭis.
संख्यातानि कुलीनानां वानराणां तरस्विनाम्
The numbers of noble and swift vanaras have been counted.
दिव्याभरणवेषाश्च ब्रह्मण्याश्चाहितग्नयः
Adorned in divine ornaments and attire, devoted to Brahman, and tending the sacred fire.
मुकुटैः कुण्डलैर्हारैः केयूरैः समलङ्कृताः
Decorated with crowns, earrings, necklaces, and armlets.
अस्त्राणां मोचने चापि तथा संहारकर्मणि
In releasing weapons and in acts of destruction as well.
समर्था बलिनः शूराः सर्वशस्त्रप्रहारिणः
They are capable, strong, heroic, and skilled in wielding all weapons.
कुलानां च सहस्राणि दश तेषां महात्मनाम्
There are thousands of clans among those great souls.
नीले श्वेतनगे चैव निषधे गन्धमादने
On the Nīla, Śveta, and Niṣadha mountains, as well as on Gandhamādana,
निलयास्तेषु ते प्रोक्ता विश्वकर्मकृता स्वयम्
Their dwellings there are described as made by Viśvakarman himself.
सर्वर्तुरमणीयास्ते ह्युद्यानानि च सर्वशः
All those gardens are delightful in every season.
आलेपनैश्च विविधैर्दिव्यभक्तिकृतैस्तथा
And with various anointments prepared with divine devotion,
