Karūṣa, Pṛṣadhra, and Pāṃśu are remembered as the ninth.
Thus, these are indeed recounted, and this is the seventh among them.
Why should I narrate further, in detail and in order?
Begin the third section in detail, including its introduction.
O Brahmins, listen as I recite the section in summary.
O twice-born, hear the creation in detail and in sequence.
Along with the great hosts of gods, sages, and Dānavas,
With humans, animals, birds, and immovable beings,
I shall declare the creation of Vaivasvata, having bowed to Vivasvat.
In the previous Svāyambhuva Manvantara, there were seven great sages.
And the mighty sages, the sons of Dakṣa and Bhṛgu and others,
Again, seven sages were born, seven mind-born ones.
By those great souls, creators of progeny, offspring were produced.
I shall declare the origin of those whose knowledge and deeds are pure.
The whole world was again filled, adorned with planets and stars.
And those were considered as sons; tell us that, O best of the good.
Having reached another Manvantara, again it is indeed the Vaivasvata.
In the world of people, those who return once are born.
These very illustrious ones, at the great sacrifice extended by Varuṇa,
All are descendants of the Grandfather; may that become our welfare.
They arrived in the epoch of Svāyambhuva, indeed for the purpose of creation.
In the great sacrifice of the god, bearing the form of Vāruṇī,
The seers were born in that long (sacrifice); thus have we heard it as the second (creation).
Atri and also Vasiṣṭha—these eight are sons of Brahmā.
All the limbs of sacrifice and the embodied Vaṣaṭkāra (exclamation) as well,
And there arose the Ṛgveda, adorned with its proper sequence.
Established for the sake of sacrifice, endowed with hymns, Brāhmaṇa texts, and mantras,
He was accompanied there by the Gandharvas, beginning with Viśvāvasu.
By union with the descendants of Angiras, he became two-bodied and two-headed.
The Vaṣaṭkāra was the support, as also the acts of restraint and release.
