All the gods from Janaloka, for ten kalpas, again and again,
At that time, they are bound together by what must inevitably happen.
Then that activity ceases for them upon perceiving faults.
From Janaloka, they proceed to Tapoloka, where there is no return.
In Brahmaloka, together with the sages, they reach dissolution.
Because time is without beginning, so too are all enumerations.
Along with ancestors, sages, gods, and also with the ṛṣis.
By this sequence and method, kalpas and manvantaras occur.
At the end of a manvantara comes dissolution, and after dissolution, creation.
It cannot be told in order, even in hundreds of years.
But the enumeration of a manvantara, understand it in human terms.
Thirty crores are counted as the full number by the twice-born.
And twenty thousand more, this is the time, excluding the excess.
With the addition of a divine year at the beginning, I will speak of the next after Manu.
And fifty-two thousand more are to be added.
A full thousand yugas is considered a day of Brahma.
Having placed the Brahmas at the forefront, together with gods, sages, and demons.
He is the creator of all beings, again and again in kalpas and so forth.
Understand the junction of all manvantaras.
The four yugas, joined with Kṛta, Tretā, and so on, are thus remembered.
The venerable Lord spoke to Manu about this authority.
It has been described with regard to the past, the future, and the present.
I shall explain the transition of this one and also of the other.
By the force of what must inevitably occur, it comes to an end as is proper.
The Seven Sages, the gods, the ancestors, and likewise the Manus—
When their authority is exhausted, they become anxious, realizing the change of their own state.
Then, when that Manvantara has ended, those deities—
Who are to be the future rulers of the Manvantara—are born.
When the Manvantara is complete, they say the same in the Kali age.
Just as the continuation of the Krita age is said by the wise to be preceded by Kali.
