दक्षिणप्रवहा नद्यः सह्य पादाद्विनिःस्मृताः
The southern-flowing rivers that arise from the foot of the Sahya mountain.
नद्यो ऽभिजाता मलयात्सर्वाः शीतजलाः शुभाः
All the noble rivers born from the Malaya mountains, with cool and pure waters.
लाङ्गूलिनी वंशधरा महेन्द्रतनयाः स्मृताः
Langulini, Vamshadhara, and the daughters of Mahendra are remembered.
कृपा पलाशिनी चैव शुक्तिमत्प्रभवाः स्मृताः
Kripa and Palashini, too, are known as originating from Shuktimati.
विश्वस्य मातरः सर्वा जगत्पापहराः स्मृताः
All these are regarded as mothers of the universe, destroyers of the world's sins.
तास्विमे कुरुपाञ्चालाः शाल्वा माद्रेयजाङ्गलाः
Among them dwell the Kurus, Panchalas, Shalvas, Madreyas, and Jangalas.
मत्स्याः कुशल्याः सौशल्याः कुन्तलाः काशिकोशलाः
The Matsyas, Kushalas, Saushalas, Kuntalas, and the Kashi-Kosalas.
मध्यदेश्या जनपदाः प्रायशस्त्त्र कीर्त्तिताः
These are the principal peoples of the central region that have been mentioned.
पृथिव्यामपि कृत्स्नायां स प्रदेशो मनोरमः
Even on the whole earth, that region is delightful.
रामप्रियाथ स्वर्गीया वृक्ष दिव्यास्त थौषधीः
Dear to Rama, heavenly, with divine trees and herbs.
अतः पुर्वरोद्देशस्तेन जज्ञे मनोरमः
Thus, the eastern region became delightful because of this.
अपरान्ताश्च मुह्माश्च पाञ्चलाश्चर्ममण्डलाः

झिल्लिकाश्चाहुकाश्चैव हूणदर्वास्तथैव च

ततः प्लवङ्गवो ज्ञेया मलदा मलवर्तिकाः
