From one yojana up to twelve yojanas,
If the disciple is situated very far, he may go to the guru whenever he wishes.
He should offer fruits, flowers, garments, and the like, according to his ability.
For the sake of blessing true disciples, he wanders secretly upon the earth.
Śiva, the ocean of compassion, acts in the world as if he were bound in saṃsāra.
The revered guru is proclaimed as Brahmā, though he does not have four faces.
Those without fortune do not see the risen sun, just as the blind do not.
The lowest is preoccupied with scriptures; lower still is one absorbed in worldly concerns.
There is no worship superior to devotion, nor is there any fruit greater than liberation.
Everywhere, with various words, Śrī Kāmākṣī is declared the Supreme.
Lakṣmī and Nārāyaṇa, Vāṇī and Dhātā, Girijā and Śiva,
Those named as support and supported, as enjoyment and liberation likewise,
Whatever pair of opposites such as pleasure and pain is seen or heard,
They know the supreme light beyond all this as that named Kāmākṣī.
Thus, in this path of Shakti, whoever abides here—
Whether with mantra or without mantra, those who worship Kamakshi—
How much more so, then, for Kshatriyas and Brahmins who worship with mantras—
With offerings of white honey, clarified butter, plantain fruit, and sweet rice—
Even if capable, one who worships the yoni may incur the curse of the Goddess.
But the householder, accompanied by auspicious conduct, should worship the great Goddess.
The guru should explain the procedure three times, O one born from the pot.
Lakshmi and Narayana, Vani and Dhata, Girija and Shiva—
Thus, all has been spoken by me in summary, O pot-born one.
By attending to this alone, one becomes all-knowing and wise.
Having sprinkled (purified) according to rule with mantras, in the manner taught by the guru—
Facing east, firmly seated in the lotus posture, with mind unwavering—
He should place the twice-recited Bala seed-syllables in the middle fingers, in order—
He should, with his own weapon-mantra, form a circle of fire as a protective boundary.
Having placed the maiden (kanya), he should pervade her with the Vagbhava and other seed-syllables.
He should then place the Bala seed-syllables at the navel, heart, and between the eyebrows.
