भासते सा भगवती पापघ्नी ललितांबिका
That goddess, Lalitāmbikā, destroyer of sin, shines resplendent.
यस्याः पूजाफलं प्राहुयस्या एव हि पूजनम्
The fruit of worship is said to be hers alone, for only her worship is supreme.
वर्षकोटिसहस्रेणाप्येकांशो वर्ण्यते न हि
Even in a thousand million years, her full glory cannot be described, not even in part.
यतो वाचो निवर्तन्ते अप्राप्य मनसा सह
For words, along with the mind, turn back from her, unable to reach.
न पक्षपातान्न स्नेहान्न मोहाद्वा मयोच्यते
Neither by partiality, nor by affection, nor by delusion have I spoken.
मषीपात्राणि सर्वे ऽपि सप्त संतु महार्णवाः
Let all the ink vessels be seven great oceans.
तस्य लेखनकालो ऽस्तु परार्ध्याधिकवत्सरैः
Let the time for writing be measured in years exceeding a parārdha.
सर्वे बृहस्पतिसमा वक्तारो यदि कुंभज
Let all the speakers be equal to Bṛhaspati, O son of the pot.
अथ वा वृत्तिरखिला निष्फला तद्गुणस्तुतौ
Even then, all effort is fruitless in praising those qualities.
महामायाजवनिका लंबते मेचकप्रभा
The veil of great illusion hangs, shining with a dazzling radiance.
इन्द्रगोपवितानं तु बद्धं त्रैलोक्यदुर्लभम्
The canopy of indragopa insects is bound, rare even in the three worlds.
मद्वाणी वर्णयिष्यन्ती कण्ठ एव ह्रिया हता
My speech, wishing to describe, is checked at the throat by modesty.
मनसो ऽपि हि दूरे तत्सौभाग्यं केनवर्ण्यते
Even for the mind, that fortune is far away; by whom can it be described?
प्रादुर्भुता चिदनलाद्दग्धनिःशेषदानवा
She appeared from the fire of consciousness, having burned all the demons completely.
अधिष्ठाय श्रीनगरं सदा रक्षति विष्टपम्
Having established herself in the city of prosperity, she always protects the world.
न भेदको ऽपि विन्यासो नाममात्रं पुरां भिदा
There is no division, even the arrangement is not a cause of difference; the name alone distinguishes the city.
वदन्ति श्रीपुरकथां ते यान्ति परमां गतिम्
Those who recite the tale of Śrīpura attain the highest state.
ये पुस्तके धारयन्ति ते यान्ति परमां गतिम्
Those who keep it in a book attain the highest state.
संपादयन्ति ये भक्तास्ते यान्ति परमां गतिम्
Those devotees who compile it attain the highest state.
भण्डासुरवधश्चैव देव्याः श्रीनगरस्थितिः
The slaying of Bhaṇḍāsura and the goddess's abiding in Śrīnagara—
तन्मन्त्राणां लक्षणं च सर्वमेतन्निवेदय
The characteristics of those mantras—all this, declare to me.
सर्वेभ्यो ऽपि हि शब्देभ्यो वेदराशिर्महान्मुने
From all words indeed, O great sage, the Vedas are the source.
सर्वेभ्यो वेदमन्त्रेभ्यो विष्णुमन्त्रा महत्तराः
Among all Vedic mantras, the mantras of Viṣṇu are the greatest.
तेभ्यो गाणपता मन्त्रा मुने वीर्य महत्तराः
O sage, among those, the mantras of Gaṇapati are of even greater potency.
तेभ्यो ऽपि लक्ष्मीमन्त्रास्तु तेभ्यः सारस्वता वराः
Even greater than those are the mantras of Lakṣmī, and superior to those are the mantras of Sarasvatī.
सर्वाम्नायमनुभ्यो ऽपि वाराहा मनवो वराः
Even among all the traditions and transmissions, the Varāha mantras are the most excellent.
तेभ्यो ऽपि ललितामन्त्रा दशभेदविभेदिताः
Even beyond those are the Lalitā mantras, distinguished in tenfold variations.
लोपामुद्रा कामराज इति ख्यातिमुपागतौ
They have become renowned as the mantras of Lopāmudrā and Kāmarāja.
हंसादेर्वाच्यतां याताः कामराजो महेस्वरः
They are also known as Haṃsa and others; Kāmarāja is the great lord.
हादिकाद्योर्मन्त्रयोस्तु भेदो वर्णत्रयोद्भवः
The difference between the Ha and Ka mantras arises from the combination of three syllables.
