परितस्थलपद्मानि महाकाण्डानि संति वै
All around, there are great lotus clusters, indeed, of vast size.
पत्राणि तालदशकमात्रायामानि संति वै
The leaves measure ten tāla-lengths each, as is indeed the case.
दशतालसमुन्नम्रः कर्णिकाः परिकीर्तिताः
The central receptacles are said to rise ten tāla-lengths high.
बहुशः संति पद्मानि कोडीनामपि कोडिशः
There are countless lotuses, even crores upon crores.
क्रोशोन्नतो वह्निरूपो वर्तुलाकारसंस्थितः
A fire-shaped form, raised a krośa high, stands in a circular arrangement.
अर्घ्यपात्रमहाधारो वर्तते कुम्भसम्भव
A great vessel for offerings, originating from a pot, is present.
धूम्रार्चिःप्रमुखा भान्ति कला दश विभावसोः
Ten flames of fire, led by smoky tongues, shine forth.
परिष्वज्यैव परितो वर्तन्ते मन्मथालसाः
They encircle all around, embracing, as Manmatha’s tāla trees.
एता दशकलाः प्रोक्ता वह्नेराधाररूपिणः
These ten forms are spoken of as the supporting aspects of fire.
सूर्यस्त्रिलोकीतिमिरप्रध्वंसप्रथितोदयः
The sun is renowned for rising and destroying the darkness of the three worlds.
योजनायामविस्तारं महाज्योतिः प्रकाशितम्
A great light shines forth, extending a yojana in length and breadth.
वर्तन्ते द्वादश कला अतिभास्वररोचिषः
Twelve rays exist, exceedingly brilliant in their radiance.
सुषुम्णा भोगदा विश्वा बोधिनी धारिणी क्षमा
Suṣumnā, bestower of enjoyment, universal, awakener, supporter, patient.
सर्वौंषधि रसाढ्यं च हृद्यसौरभसंयुतम्
Rich in all medicinal essences, endowed with delightful fragrance.
वास्यमानं सदा हृद्यं शीतलं लघु निर्मलम्
Always pleasant, cool, light, and pure, it is ever wafted.
सदा शब्दायमानं च भासतेर्ऽचनकारणम्
Ever resounding, it is the cause for the worship of light.
निशाकरकला हृद्याः क्रीडन्ति नवयौवनाः
Lovely young women, radiant as the crescent moon, play joyfully.
शशिनी चन्द्रिका कान्तिर्ज्योत्स्ना श्रीः प्रीतिरङ्गदा
Moonlight, beauty, splendor, radiance, fortune, affection, and delight shine there.
नवयौवनसंपूर्णाः सदा प्रहसिताननाः
Ever filled with youthful vigor, their faces are always adorned with smiles.
जरा सिद्धिरिति प्रोक्ताः क्रीडन्ति ब्रह्मणः कलाः
Known as Old Age and Perfection, these are the powers that sport as aspects of Brahma.
वरदाह्लादिनी प्रीतिर्दीर्घा चेति हरेः कलाः
Bestower of boons, delight, affection, and what is enduring—these are the powers of Hari.
उत्कारी मृत्युरप्येता रोद्ध्र्यस्तत्र स्थिताः कालाः
There, Death himself is present as the remover, and the times that restrain are established.
चतस्रेव प्रोक्तास्तु शङ्करस्य कला अथ
Thus, only four aspects are declared as the powers of Śaṅkara.
इन्दिरा दीपिका चैव रेचिका चैव मोचिका
Indirā, Dīpikā, Recikā, and Mocikā are their names.
एतां षोडश संप्रोक्तास्तत्र क्रीडन्ति शक्तयः
These sixteen are proclaimed there, where the energies play.
शक्तिरुपेण खेलन्ति तत्र विद्याः सहस्रशः
In the form of power, countless knowledges sport there.
तदर्घ्यममृतं पीत्वा सदा माद्यन्ति शक्तयः
Having drunk that immortal offering, the energies are ever intoxicated.
मुहुर्मुहुर्नवनवं मुहुस्चाबद्धसौरभम्
Again and again, ever new and ever fragrant, it arises.
आपूर्यापूर्य सततं तदर्घ्यममृतं महत्
That great immortal offering is constantly filled and refilled.
अणिमादिकशक्तीनामर्घ्ययन्ति मदोद्धताः
Intoxicated, they honor the powers beginning with Aṇimā and the rest.
