देवतास्तु परं भिन्नाः शुक्रशुच्यादिभेदतः
The deities are indeed distinct, differentiated by qualities such as brightness and purity.
एवं वर्षादिके चक्रे भेदान्नभवभस्यजान्
In this way, in the wheel beginning with Varṣa, due to differences, there arise distinctions of sky, wind, and fire.
ग्रन्थविस्तारभीत्या तु तत्संख्यानाद्विरम्यते
But out of fear of prolixity in the text, their enumeration is omitted.
ललितापूजनध्यानजपस्तोत्रपरायणाः
Those devoted to worship, meditation, recitation, and hymn-singing to Lalitā—
स्वस्वपुष्पोत्थमधुभिस्तर्पयन्त्यो महेश्वरीम्
—offer to the great goddess the honey arising from their own flowers.
एवं सप्तसु शालेषु पालिकाश्चक्रदेवताः
Thus, in the seven halls, the guardians are the deities of the wheel.
विस्तारं तत्र शक्तिं च कथयाम्यवधारय
Now, listen as I describe in detail their extent and power.
अथ रत्नमयाः शालाः प्रकीर्त्यन्ते ऽवधारय
Next, the jewel-encrusted halls are described—pay attention.
सप्तयोजनमात्रं स्यान्मध्येन्तरमुदात्दृतम्
The measured distance between the centers is said to be seven yojanas.
रसै रसायनैश्चापि खड्गैः पादाञ्जनैरपि
With elixirs, alchemical substances, swords, and foot-ointments—
वसंति विविधास्तत्र पिबन्ति मदिरारसान्
—various beings dwell there, drinking the essence of wine.
पुष्परागादिजं ज्ञेयमुच्चेन्द्वादित्यभास्वरम्
It should be known that the gem called Puṣparāga shines with the radiance of the full moon and the sun.
अन्तरे या स्वली सापि पुष्परागमयी स्मृता
The inner enclosure there is also said to be made of Puṣparāga.
तद्वर्णाः पक्षिणस्तत्र तद्वर्णानि सरांसि च
Birds of that color are found there, and the lakes are of that hue as well.
त्यक्तवन्तो वपुः पूर्वं ते सिद्धास्तत्र सांगनाः
Those perfected beings, together with their consorts, have abandoned their former bodies and dwell there.
ते सर्वे ललितादेव्या नामकीर्तनकारिणः
All of them are engaged in the chanting of the names of Goddess Lalitā.
पद्मरागमयः शालश्चतुरस्रः समन्ततः
The hall is made of padmarāga gems, perfectly square on all sides.
सिद्धिं प्राप्ता महाराज्ञीचरमाम्भोजसेवकाः
The great queen, attended by those who serve the supreme lotus, has attained perfection.
गायन्ति ललितादेव्या गीतिबन्धान्मुहुर्मुहुः
They sing, again and again, songs composed in praise of Goddess Lalitā.
भर्तृभिः सहचारिण्यः पिबन्ति मधुरं मधु
Together with their consorts, the companions drink sweet honey.
अतितुङ्गो हीरशालस्तयोर्मध्ये च हीरभूः
In the midst of them stands a very tall hall of diamonds, and the ground is also of diamonds.
वसन्त्यप्सरसां वृन्दैः साकं गन्धर्वपुङ्गवाः
There dwell the foremost of Gandharvas together with groups of Apsarases.
सुकुमारप्रकृतयः श्रीदेवीभक्तिशालिनः
They are gentle by nature and devoted to the worship of the blessed Goddess.
कालसङ्कर्षणीमंबां सेवन्ते तत्र भक्तितः
There, with devotion, they serve Mother Kālasaṅkarṣaṇī.
उर्वशी मेनका चैव रम्भा चालंबुषा तथा
Urvaśī, Menakā, Rambhā, and also Alaṃbuṣā are there.
कृतस्थला च विश्वाची पुञ्जिकस्थलया सह
Kṛtasthalā and Viśvācī, together with Puñjikasthalā, are present.
गन्धर्वैः सह नव्यानि कल्पवृक्षम धूनि च
Along with the Gandharvas, they tend the new shoots of the wish-fulfilling trees.
स्वसौभाग्यविवृद्ध्यर्थं गुणयन्त्यश्च तन्मनुम्
For the increase of their own good fortune, they recite that mantra, praising its qualities.
तत्रैव देवीमर्चन्त्यो वसंति मुदिताशयाः
There itself, joyfully minded, they reside, worshipping the Goddess.
कीर्तय त्वं महाप्राज्ञ सर्वविद्यामहानिधे
O greatly wise one, treasure-house of all knowledge, you should proclaim her glory.
