तन्मयत्वमनुप्राप्तस्ततापातितरां शिवः
Absorbed in her, Shiva was overtaken by her burning influence.
अवलोक्य विवाहाय भृशमुद्यमवानभूत्
Seeing this, he became intensely eager for marriage.
अथ तां पर्वतसुतामाशुगैरभ्यतापयत्
Then, he swiftly sent his burning affections toward the mountain's daughter.
शुष्यमाणाधरदलो भृशं पाण्डुकपोलभूः
Her lips grew parched, and her cheeks became exceedingly pale.
मखीसहस्रैः सिषिचे नित्यं शीतोपचारकैः
He sprinkled her constantly with thousands of cooling remedies.
न जगाम रुजाशान्ति मन्मथाग्नेर्महीयसः
Yet the pain caused by the mighty fire of love did not abate.
स्वतनोस्तापनेनासौ पितुः खेदमवर्धयत्
Through the burning of his own body, he increased his father's distress.
अवलोक्य स शैलेन्द्रो महादुःखमवाप्तवान्
Seeing this, the lord of the mountains was overwhelmed with great sorrow.
भार्तारं तं समृच्छेति पित्रा सम्प्रेरिताथ सा
Then, sent by her father, she approached him to become her husband.
वकार पतिलाभाय पार्वती दुष्करं तपः
Parvati undertook severe austerities to obtain her desired husband.
अर्के निविष्टदृष्टिश्च सुघोरं तप आस्थिता
Fixing her gaze upon the sun, she engaged in terrible penance.
अङ्गीचकार तां भार्यां वैवाहिकविधानतः
He accepted her as his wife according to the proper marriage rites.
सप्तर्षिद्वारतः पूर्वं प्रार्थितामुदवोढ सः
He married her, who had previously been requested through the Seven Sages.
ओषधीप्रस्थनगरे श्वशुरस्य गृहे ऽवसत्
He dwelt in the house of his father-in-law, in the city of Oṣadhīprastha.
पार्वतीमानिनायाद्रिनाथस्य प्रीतिमावहत्
By bringing Parvati, he brought joy to the Lord of the Mountain.
विन्ध्याद्रौ हेमशैले च मलये पारियात्रके
On Mount Vindhya, Hemashaila, Malaya, and Pariyatra,
अथ तस्यां ससर्जोग्रं वीर्यं सा सोढुमक्षमा
Then, in her, he generated a fierce energy which she was unable to bear.
ताश्च गङ्गाजले ऽमुञ्चन्सा चैव शरकानने
They cast it into the water of the Ganga, and she into the forest of reeds.
गङ्गायाश्चान्तिकं नीतो धूर्जटिर्वृद्धि मागमत्
Dhūrjaṭi was brought near to Ganga, and growth occurred.
शिक्षितो निजतातेन सर्वा विद्या अवाप्तवान्
He was instructed by his own father and attained all knowledge.
तारकं मारयामास समस्तैः सह दानवैः
He slew Taraka together with all the demons.
शक्रेण दत्तां स गुहो देवसेनामुपानयत्
Guha, having received Devasenā from Indra, brought her to him.
आसाद्यरमणं स्कन्दमानन्दं मृशमादधौ
Having attained Skanda as her husband, she experienced great joy.
देवकार्यं सुसम्पाद्य जगाम श्रीपुरं पुनः
Having successfully accomplished the task of the gods, he returned again to Śrīpura.
वर्तते जगतामृद्ध्यै तत्र तां सेवितुं ययौ
He remains there for the prosperity of the worlds; she went there to serve him.
केन वानिर्मितं पूर्व तत्सर्वं मे निवदय

त्वमेव सर्वसन्देहपङ्कशोषणभास्करः
You alone are the sun that dries up the mire of all doubts.
