अट्टहासैर्महेन्द्राणां सिंहनादैश्चभूरिशः
With the loud laughter of the great Indras and their repeated lion-roars,
त्रिंशदक्षौहिणी सेना विशुक्रस्य दुरात्मनः
The army of Viśukra, the evil-minded one, numbered thirty akshauhinis.
दन्तैर्मर्म विभिन्दन्तो विष्टंयतश्च शुण्डया
They pierced vital spots with their tusks and struck with their trunks.
नासाश्वासैश्च परुषैर्विक्षिपन्तः पताकिनीम्
With harsh blasts from their nostrils, they scattered the flag-bearing troops.
पिंषन्तश्च पदाघातैः पीनैर्घ्नन्तस्तथोदरैः
They crushed with the blows of their feet and struck down with their massive bellies.
शङ्खस्वनेन महता त्रासयन्तो वरूथिनीम्
Terrifying the enemy ranks with the great sound of conch shells.
धूलीशेषं समस्तं तत्सैन्यं चक्रुर्महोद्यताः
All that remained was dust; the entire army was utterly exhausted.
प्रेषयामास देवस्य गजासुर मसौ पुनः
The elephant-demon once again sent forth the forces of the god.
सप्ताक्षौहिणियुक्तेन युयुधे स गणेश्वरः
The lord of the hosts fought with seven divisions of troops.
वर्धमानं च तद्वीर्यं विशुक्रः प्रपलायितः
As that valor increased, Vishukra fled.
सप्ताक्षौहिणिकायुक्तं गजासुरममर्दयत्
He subdued the elephant-demon, who was accompanied by seven divisions.
ललितान्तिकमापेदे महागमपतिर्मृधात्
The great lord of elephants approached Lalita after the battle.
ललिता चाति मुदिता बभूवास्य पराक्रमैः
Lalita became exceedingly joyful at his feats of valor.
सर्वदैवतपूजायाः पूर्वपूज्यत्वमुत्तमम्
He attained the highest precedence in all divine worship.
सेनानां कदनं श्रुत्वा सन्तप्तो बहुचिन्तया
Hearing of the slaughter of the armies, he was deeply troubled and full of anxious thoughts.
प्रेषयामास युद्धाय भण्डदैत्यः सहोदरौ
Bhandasura sent his two brothers to battle.
विषङ्गश्च विशुक्रश्च महोद्यम मवापनुः
Vishanga and Vishukra undertook a great endeavor.
विशुक्रमनुवव्राज सेना त्रैलोक्यकम्पिनी
The army that shook the three worlds followed Vishukra.
युवराजः प्रववृधे प्रतापेन महीयसा
The crown prince grew in mighty splendor.
भण्डस्य च भगिन्यान्तु धूमिन्यां जातयोनयः

विक्रमेण वलन्तस्ते सेनानाथाः प्रतस्थिरे

द्वयोर्मातुलयोः प्रीतिं भागिनेया वितेनिरे
The nephews fostered affection between the two maternal uncles.
आकृष्टगुरुधन्वानो विशुक्रमनुवव्रजुः
