पुत्रीभुजावदानानि श्रुत्वा प्रीतिं समाययौ

अदृष्टपूर्वैर्देवेषु विस्मयस्य वशं गतम्

विललाप स दैत्येन्द्रो मत्वा जातं कुलक्षयम्

हा मन्नेत्रसुधापूरा हा मत्कुलविवर्धनाः
Alas, my eyes' nectar, alas, those who increased my family!
हा समस्तसुरस्त्रीणामन्तर्मोहनमन्मथाः
Alas, the charmers of all divine women, the enchanters of their hearts!
किमिदानीमिमं तातमवमुच्य सुखं गताः
How is it that, abandoning their father, they have now found happiness?
रिक्तानि मम गेहानि रिक्ता राजसभापि मे
My homes are empty, my royal assembly is empty as well.
कथमेकपदे दुष्टा वनिता संगरे ऽवधीत्
How did that wicked woman slay them all at once in battle?
इतः परं कुले क्षीणे साहसानि सुखानि च
From this point, when the family is diminished, both daring deeds and pleasures come to an end.
नाशो ऽयं भवतामद्य जातो नष्टस्ततो ऽस्म्यहम्
Today, because of you, this destruction has arisen; therefore, I am lost.
मूर्च्छया लुप्तहृदयो निष्पपात नुपासनात्
Overcome by fainting, his heart lost, he fell down, unable to worship.
भण्डमाश्वासयामासुर्दैवस्य कुटिलक्रमैः
They tried to console Bhaṇḍa with the crooked ways of fate.
लपसि त्वे प्रति सुतान्प्राप्तमृत्यून्महाहवे
Yet you speak against your sons, who met death in the great battle.
अशोच्यमाहवे मृत्युं प्राप्नुवन्ति यदर्हितम्
Those who meet death in battle, which is not to be grieved, attain what is deserved.
यत्स्त्री समागत्य हठान्नि हन्ति सुभटान्रणे
What woman, coming forcefully, slays great warriors in battle?
भण्डेन चण्डकालाग्निसदृशः क्रोध आदधे
Bhaṇḍa seized a wrath like the fierce fire of destruction.
विस्फारिताक्षियुगलो भृशं जज्वाल तेजसा
His pair of eyes widened and blazed intensely with energy.
शकलीकृत्य समरे श्रमं प्राप्स्यामि बन्धुभिः
Having shattered them in battle, I will gain relief with my kinsmen.
खड्गं विधुन्वन्नुत्थाय प्रचचाला तिमत्तवत्
Raising his sword and brandishing it, he advanced like a maddened elephant.
वाचमूचुरतिक्रोधाज्ज्वलन्तो ललितां प्रति
Burning with great anger, they spoke words to Lalitā.
अस्माभिः स्वबलैर्युक्तै रणोत्साहो विधीयते
With our own forces equipped, we are ready for the enthusiasm of battle.
विमर्द्दयितुमीशाः स्मः किमु तां मुग्धभामिनीम्
We are able to crush even her, that bewildered beauty.
अधरोत्तरमेवैतत्त्रैलोक्यं करवाम वा
Let us make this threefold world entirely lower or upper as we wish.
पिन्षाम हरित्पालानाज्ञां देहि महामते
Let us crush the protectors of Hari; give the command, O wise one.
उवाच वचनं क्रुद्धः प्रतिघारुणलोचनः

जयविघ्नं महायन्त्रं कर्त्तव्यं कटके द्विषाम्

Eager as if to sport in the cavern of the netherworld, he followed after.
चरमाब्धेरिव पयःकणास्तारा विरेजिरे
Like the last drops of the ocean, the stars shone forth.
