अन्धकारमनुप्राप्य कूटयुद्धपरायणाः
Entering the darkness, intent on deceitful warfare—
पर्वावरोहणं चक्रे क्रोधेन प्रस्खलद्गतिः
She ascended the summit, her gait unsteady with rage.
अन्याश्च चरिता नित्याः कृत पर्वावरोहणाः
Other Nityas also performed the ascent to the summit.
सज्जे युद्धे स्वतेजोभिः समदीपयतां रणे
Ready for battle, they illuminated the field with their own brilliance.
प्रकाशवपुषस्तत्र मरान्तं क्रोधमाययुः
There, those with radiant bodies reached the limit of their anger.
ससिंहनादास्तान्दैत्यानमृद्नन्नेव हेलया
With lion-like roars, they crushed the demons with ease.
मन्दरक्षोभितांभोदिवेल्लत्कल्लोलमण्डलः
The waves surged in circles, stirred by Mandara.
आकृष्य प्रामकोदण्डास्तेनिरे युद्धमुद्धतम्
Drawing their mighty bows, they engaged in fierce battle.
नित्यानां निशितैर्बाणैरक्षौहिण्यश्च संहृताः
The eternal ones destroyed entire battalions with sharp arrows.
दीर्घजिह्वं चमूनाथं भगमाला व्यदारत्
Bhagamala tore apart the army leader with her long tongue.
कक्लसं वह्निवासा च निजघान शरैः शतैः
Vahnivasa struck Kaklasa with hundreds of arrows.
पुक्लसं शिवदूती च प्राहिणोद्यमसादनम्
Shivaduti sent Puklasa to defeat him with force.
कुलसुन्दरिका नित्या चण्डबाहुं च कुक्कुरम्
Kulasundari and Nitya slew Candabahu and Kukura.
ज्वालामालिनिका नित्या जघानोग्रं त्रिकर्णकम्
Jvalamalini, the eternal one, killed the fierce Trikarnaka.
सेनानाथेषु सर्वेषु निहतेषु दुरात्मसु
When all the wicked commanders had been slain,
अथ यामावशेषायां यामिन्यां घटिकाद्वयम्
Then, in the remaining two hours of the night,
अशक्यत्वं समुद्दिश्य चक्राम प्रपलायितुम्
Seeing their inability, they began to flee.
हतावशिष्टैर्योधैश्च सार्धमेव पलायितः
With the surviving warriors, he fled together.
दण्डनाथाशरेणैव कालदण्डसमत्विषा
By the arrow of Dandanatha, shining like the rod of Time,
सा विभाता च रजनी प्रसन्नाश्चाभवन्दिशः
That night ended, and the directions became clear and bright.
इति ताः समरान्नित्यास्तस्मिन्काले व्यरंसिषुः
Thus, the eternal ones ceased from battle at that time.
नित्याः श्रीललितां देवीं प्रणिपेतुर्जयोद्धताः
The victorious eternal ones bowed to the goddess Shri Lalita.
नित्यानां रूपजालं च शस्त्रक्षतमलोकयत्
She observed the array of forms of the eternal ones, marked by wounds from weapons.
तदालोकनमात्रेण व्रणो निर्व्रणतामगात्
By merely beholding them, the wound was transformed into unwoundedness.
नित्यानां विक्रमैश्चापि ललिता प्रीतिमासदत्
And by the valor of the eternal ones, Lalita attained delight.
दशाक्षौहिणिकं सैन्यं तया रात्रौ विनाशितम्
A force of ten akshauhinis was destroyed by her during the night.
मन्त्रिणी दण्डनाथा च श्रुत्वा निर्वेदमापतुः
The minister and the commander, upon hearing this, became despondent.
उत्तानबुद्धिभिर्दूरमस्माभिश्चलितं पुरः
With shallow-minded men, our city has been led far astray.
एतं त्ववसरं प्राप्य रात्रौ दुष्टैः पराकृतम्
Having reached this opportunity, the wicked attacked at night.
अन्या वा शक्तयस्तत्र चक्रुर्युद्धं महासुरैः
Other powers there engaged in battle with the great demons.
