अश्वरूढा समागत्य सस्नेहार्द्रमिदं वचः

पेतुरेकप्रवाहेण कुरण्डस्य चमूमुखे
They plunged in a single stream toward the front of Kuraṇḍa's army.
घतिभेदेषु चारेषु पञ्चधा खुरपातने
In the breaking of formations and maneuvers, hoof-strikes split the ground fivefold.
चतुराभिस्तुरङ्गस्य हृदयज्ञाभिराहवे
With four heart-wise horses, she fought in the battle.
प्रोत्साहिताः कुरण्डेन समयुध्यन्त दुर्मदाः
Incited by Kuraṇḍa, the arrogant ones engaged in battle.
अभ्यद्रवद्दुराचारमश्वारूढाः कुरण्डकम्
Mounted on horses, the wicked advanced against Kuraṇḍa.
संध्यानुरक्तशीतांशुमण्डलीसुंदरानना
Her face was beautiful like the orb of the cool-rayed moon, tinged with the hues of twilight.
अवाकिरच्छरासारैः कुरण्डं तुरगानना
The horse-faced one showered Kuraṇḍa with volleys of arrows.
दिशो दश व्यानशिरे रुक्मपुङ्खाः शिलीमुखाः
Ten directions were filled with golden-feathered, sharp-tipped arrows.
विशिखैः शार्ङ्गनिष्ठ्यूतैरश्वारूढा मवाकिरत्
Mounted on horses, they showered arrows released from Śārṅga.
अश्वारूढातुरङ्गो ऽपि मर्दयामास दानवान्
Mounted on a horse, Turaṅga crushed the Dānavas.

With a single arrow, she cut the jeweled bowstring of her opponent.
अङ्कुशं पातयामास तस्य वक्षसि दुर्मतेः
She struck his chest with the goad, O wicked-minded one.
कुरण्डो न्यपतद्भूमौ वज्ररुग्ण इव द्रुमः
Kuraṇḍa fell to the ground like a tree shattered by a thunderbolt.
तत्सैन्यं पाशनिष्यन्दं भक्षयित्वा क्षयं गताः
Having devoured the army, streaming with nooses, they met their end.
हतावशिष्टास्ते दैत्याः प्रपलायन्त वै द्रुतम्
The surviving Daityas, having been slain, fled swiftly.
श्रुत्वा शून्यकनाथो ऽपि निशश्वास भुजङ्गवत्
Hearing this, even the lord of Śūnyaka sighed like a serpent.
कुटिलाक्षमिदं प्रोचे पुनरेव युयुत्सया
Kuṭilākṣa spoke this again, desiring battle.
यच्च नो शङ्कितं चित्ते तदेतत्कष्टमागतम्
That which we feared in our hearts—this very hardship has come.
दुष्टदास्याः प्रभावो ऽयं मायाविन्या महत्तरः
This is the influence of the wicked maidservant, whose deception is exceedingly great.
शतमक्षौहिणीनां च प्रस्थापय रणाङ्गणे
Dispatch a hundred divisions of troops onto the battlefield.
सर्वथैव विजेष्यन्ते दुर्विदग्धविलासिनीम्
They will certainly be defeated by the cunning and capricious woman.
