प्रभूतोष्मलनिश्वासप्रसराकंपितांबुधिः
His powerful, fiery breath causes the ocean to tremble.
वर्त्तते खुरविक्षिप्तपुष्कलावर्तवारिदः
Where he stands, the clouds are churned into great whorls by his stamping hooves.
इन्द्रादयो ऽनेकभेदा दिशामष्टकदेवताः
Indra and others, in many forms, are the eight guardian deities of the directions.
इन्द्रश्चाप्सरसश्चैव स चतुष्षष्टिकोटयः
Indra and the Apsarases, numbering sixty-four crores.
विश्वकर्मा मयश्चैव मातरश्च बलोन्नताः
Viśvakarmā, Maya, and the Mothers, exalted in strength.
क्रन्दञ्चिरक्षसां नाथा राक्षसा बहवस्तथा
The lords of the Rākṣasas, howling, and many other Rākṣasas as well.
विश्वावसुप्रभृतयो विख्यातास्तत्पुरोगमाः
The renowned ones such as Viśvāvasu and his followers,
विद्याधराः किन्नराश्च मारुतेश्वर एव च
Vidyādharas, Kinnaras, and also the lord of the winds,
तुंबुरुर्नारदो यक्षः सोमोयक्षेश्वरस्तथा
Tuṃburu, Nārada, the Yakṣa Soma, and the lord of the Yakṣas as well,
ईशानश्च जगच्चक्रभक्षकः शूलभीषणः
Īśāna, the devourer of the world-wheel, and the terrifying one with the trident,
धन्वन्तरिश्च भगवानथान्ये गणनायकाः
And the blessed Dhanvantari, along with other leaders of hosts,
अनन्तो वासुकिस्तक्षः कर्केटः पद्म एव च
Ananta, Vāsuki, Takṣa, Karkeṭa, and also Padma,
एते नागेश्वराश्चैव नागकोटिभिरावृताः
These lords of the nāgas, indeed, are surrounded by multitudes of nāgas,
पूर्वादिदिशमारभ्य परितः कृतमन्दिराः
Beginning from the eastern direction, they have established their dwellings all around,
आश्रित्य किल वर्तन्ते तदधिष्ठातृदेवताः
Residing there, indeed, are the presiding deities of those places,
तस्यैव पर्वणः प्रान्ते किरिचक्रस्य भास्वतः
At the very end of that shining circle of peaks,
पातालतलजंबालबहुला कारकालिमा
There is a dense, dark region, abundant with subterranean Jambāla,
भिन्दन्डमरुकध्वानै रोदसीकन्दरोदरम्
With the sounds of breaking drums and winds, the cavernous space between heaven and earth,
क्षेत्रपालः सदा भाति सेवमानः किटीश्वरीम्
The Kṣetrapāla always shines there, serving the queen of the Kiṭis,
यमा रुह्य प्रववृते भण्टासुरबधैषिणी
Ascending there, Yamāru began, desiring the destruction of Bhaṇṭāsura,
तस्यैव पर्वणो ऽधस्ताद्दण्डनाथासमत्विषः
Just below that peak are the Dandanāthas, equal in brilliance,
शम्याः क्रोडाननाश्चन्द्ररेखोत्तंसितकुन्तलाः
With nooses, boar-like faces, and hair raised in a crescent shape,
ललिताद्रोहिणां श्यामाद्रोहिणां स्वामिनीद्रुहाम्
Hostile to Lalitā, to Rohiṇī, and to the mistresses of Rohiṇī,
निजभक्तद्रोहकृता मन्त्रमालाविभूषणाः
Adorned with garlands of mantras, they commit acts of betrayal against their own devotees,
अखण्डरक्तविच्छर्दैर्बिभ्रत्यो वक्षसि क्रजः
Their breasts are adorned with streams of unbroken blood.
सहस्रं देवताः प्रोक्ताः सेवमानाः किटीश्वरीम्
A thousand deities are said to serve the Lady of Insects.
सहस्रनामाध्याये तु वक्ष्यन्ते नाधुना पुनः
In the chapter of a thousand names they are described, but not now again.
वाहनं कृष्णसारङ्गो दण्डिन्याः समये स्थितः
The black antelope stands as the vehicle of Daṇḍin at the appointed time.
क्रोशप्रमाणापादश्च सदा चोद्धृतवालधिः
Its foot measures a krośa, and its tail is always raised.
हसन्मारुतवाहस्य हरिणस्य पराक्रमम्
Smiling, it bears the wind, displaying the prowess of the deer.
