किरिचक्ररथेन्द्रस्य चतुर्थं पर्व संश्रिताः
They have taken refuge in the fourth section of the lord of the chariot with the circular disc.
षडेव देव्यः षट्चक्रज्वलज्ज्वालाकलेवराः
There are six goddesses, whose bodies blaze like six wheels of fire.
आज्ञया दण्डनाथायास्तं प्रदेशमुपासते
By the command of the mistress of the staff, they worship that region.
यक्षिणी शङ्खिनी चैव लाकिनी हाकिनी तथा
Yakshini, Shankhini, Lakini, and Hakini likewise,
हाकिनी सप्तमीत्येताश्चण्डदोर्दण्डविक्रमाः
Hakini is the seventh; all these possess fierce arms and valor with the staff.
त्वचं रक्तं तथा मांसं मेदो ऽस्थि च विरोधिनाम्
They consume the skin, blood, flesh, fat, and bone of their enemies.
निष्ठुरैः सिंहनादैश्च पूरयन्त्यो दिशो दश
With harsh lion-like roars, they fill the ten directions.
मोहने मारणे चैव स्तंभने ताडने तथा
In enchantment, killing, immobilization, and striking,
पण्डिताः खण्डिताशेषविपदो भक्तिशालिषु
The learned, whose calamities are destroyed, and those devoted in faith,
सप्तापि वारिधीनूर्मिमालासंचुंबितांबरान्
All seven, with garments rippling like waves of the ocean,
शकटा कारदन्ताश्च भयङ्करविलोचनाः
Are wagon-shaped, with sharp teeth and terrifying eyes.
वैदिकद्रोहणादेव द्रोहिणां वीरवैरिणाम्
Because of Vedic hostility, against traitors and heroic enemies,
नित्यमेव च सेवन्ते पोत्रिणीं दण्डनायिकाम्
They always serve Potrini, the leader of the staff.
क्रोधिनी स्तंभिनी ख्याते वर्तेते देवते उभे
Krodhini and Stambhini, both renowned goddesses, are present.
देवद्विषां चमूरक्तहालापानमहोद्धते
Among the armies of those who hate the gods, with blood-red utterances and great arrogance,
अथ तस्य रथेन्द्रस्य किरिचक्राश्रितस्य च
Now, of that lord of the chariot, who is supported by the circular disc,
हलं च मुसलं चैव देवतारूपमास्थितम्
The plough and the pestle, assuming the form of deities,
आबिभ्राणं जग षिघस्मरं विबुधैः स्मृतम्
Bearing them, he is remembered by the wise as the swift destroyer of the world.
खण्डयिष्यति संग्रामं विषङ्गं नामदानहम्
He will shatter the battle, fearless, proud of his strength.
वर्त्तमानो महाभीमः सिंहो नादैर्ध्वनन्नभः
Presently, a mighty and terrifying lion, roaring, will make the sky resound.
चण्डोच्चण्ड इति ख्यातश्चतुर्हस्तस्त्रिलोचनः
He is renowned as Caṇḍoccaṇḍa, four-armed and three-eyed.
सदा संसेवते देवीं पश्यन्नेव हि पोत्रिणीम्
He always serves the Goddess, gazing intently at the one who grants boons.
वार्त्ताल्याद्या अष्ट देव्यो दिक्ष्वष्टासूपविश्रुताः
The eight goddesses beginning with Vārttālī are famed in the eight directions.
अष्टनागस्फुरद्भूषा अनष्टबलतेजसः
Adorned with ornaments of eight serpent-hoods, their strength and brilliance undiminished.
सेवन्ते ललितां देव्यो दण्डनाथामहर्निशम्
The goddesses, led by Daṇḍanātha, serve Lalitā day and night.
वार्ताली चैव वाराहीसा वाराहमुखी परा
Vārtālī, Vārāhī, Sā, and the supreme Vārāhamukhī.
स्तंभिनीति रिपुक्षोभस्तंभनोच्चाटनक्षमाः
Staṃbhinī and Ripukṣobha, skilled in immobilizing and expelling enemies.
दण्डनाथोपवाह्यस्तु कासरो धूसराकृतिः
Daṇḍanātha's mount is Kāsara, gray in appearance.
खड्गवन्निष्ठुरैर्लोमजातैः संवृतविग्रहः
His body is covered with bristling hair, rough as a sword.
नीलाञ्जनाचलप्रख्यो विकटोन्नतरुष्टभूः
He resembles a mountain of dark collyrium, with a fierce and elevated form.
