वाराही चैव मांहेन्द्री चामुण्डा चैव सप्तमी
Vārāhī, Māṃhendrī, and also Cāmuṇḍā are the seventh.
कपालमुत्पलं चैव बिभ्राणा रक्तवाससः
Clad in red garments, they hold a skull and a blue lotus.
ब्रह्मादिसदृशाकारा ब्रह्मादिसदृशायुधाः
Their forms resemble those of Brahmā and the other gods, and their weapons are like those of Brahmā and the others.
तासामूर्ध्वस्थानगतां मुद्रा देव्यो महत्तराः
Above them are the mudrā goddesses, who are greater.
दाडिमीपुष्पसङ्काशाः पीतांबरमनोहराः
They shine like pomegranate flowers and are enchanting, clad in yellow garments.
मदरक्तविलोलाक्ष्यस्तासां नामानि मच्छृणु
Their eyes are restless from intoxication and passion; listen to their names from me.
सर्वाकर्षणकृन्मुद्रा तथा सर्ववशङ्करी
The mudrā named Sarvākarṣaṇakṛt, and likewise Sarvavaśaṅkarī.
सर्वखेचरिका मुद्रा सर्वबीजा तथापरा
The mudrā Sarvakhecarikā, and another called Sarvabījā.
सिद्धिब्राहयादिमुद्रास्ता एताः प्रकटशक्तयः
The mudrās beginning with Siddhibrāhayā—these are the manifest powers.
या गुप्ताख्याः पूर्वमुक्तास्तासां नामानि मच्छृणु
Now hear from me the names of those previously mentioned as the secret ones.
अहङ्काराकर्षिणी च शब्दाकर्षणिका कला
The power that draws forth ego, and the power that attracts sound.
रसाकर्षणिका नित्या गन्धाकर्षणिका कला
The eternal power that attracts taste, and the power that draws fragrance.
स्मृत्या कर्षणिका नित्या नामाकर्णणिका कला
The eternal power that draws forth memory, and the power that attracts names.
अमृताकर्षणी नित्या शरीराकर्षिणी कला
The eternal power that draws forth nectar, and the power that attracts the body.
अष्टमं पर्व सम्प्राप्ता गुप्ता नाम्ना प्रकीर्तिताः
Upon reaching the eighth stage, these are proclaimed as 'Gupta' by name.
चतुर्भुजास्त्रिनेत्राश्च चन्द्रार्कमुकुजोज्ज्वलाः
They are four-armed and three-eyed, radiant with crowns of moon and sun.
भण्डासुरवधार्थाय प्रवृत्ताः कुम्भसम्भव
O Kumbhasambhava, they are engaged for the destruction of Bhaṇḍāsura.
सप्तमे पर्वणि कृतावासा गुप्ततराभिधाः
At the seventh stage, their abode was established, with even more secret names.
अनङ्गलेखा चानङ्गवेगानङ्गाङ्कुशापि च
Anaṅgalekhā, Anaṅgavegā, and Anaṅgāṅkuśā as well.
इक्षुचापं पुष्पशरान्पुष्पकन्दुकमुत्पलम्
Sugarcane bow, flower arrows, flower ball, and lotus.
भण्डासुरमभिक्रुद्धाः प्रज्वलन्त्य इव स्थिताः
Angered at Bhaṇḍāsura, they stand as if blazing.
सर्वसंक्षोभिणीमुख्याः सम्प्रदायाख्यया युताः
Foremost among all agitators, endowed with the tradition's name.
अतितीव्रस्वभावाश्च कालानलसमत्विषः
Of exceedingly fierce nature, with brilliance equal to the fire of time.
वह्निचक्राख्याफलकं दधाना दीप्तविग्रहाः
Bearing the shield called 'fire wheel,' their forms are radiant.
आज्ञाशक्तय एवैता ललिताया महौजसः
These are the powers of command belonging to Lalitā, of great energy.
सर्वाकर्षणिका शक्तिः सर्वाह्लादिनिका तथा
The power that attracts all, and likewise the power that delights all.
सर्वजृंभणशक्तिश्च सर्वोन्मादनशक्तिका
The power that causes all to expand, and the power that drives all to madness.
सर्वमन्त्रमयी शक्तिः सर्वद्वन्द्वक्षयङ्करी
The power composed of all mantras, and the one that destroys all dualities.
अथ पञ्चमपर्वस्थाः कुलोत्तीर्णा इति स्मृताः
Now, those who are established in the fifth stage are known as the Kulottīrṇā.
गदां घण्टां मणिं चैव दधाना दीप्तविग्रहाः
Radiant in form, they bear a mace, a bell, and a jewel.
