नाशयामास शापाय मानसो ब्रह्मणः सुतः
The mind-born son of Brahmā destroyed (the creation) for the sake of a curse.
मरुत्प्रवाहे मरुतो दित्यां देव्यां च संभवः
The origin of the Maruts in the current of the winds, and their birth from the goddess Diti, is told.
देवत्वमिन्द्रवासेन वायुस्कन्धेषु चाश्रमः
Their divinity through the abode of Indra, and their dwelling in the hosts of Vāyu, is described.

भृगूणां विस्तरश्चोक्तस्तथा चाङ्गिरसामपि

The acquisition of the jewel by the wise Maṇiratna is described.
शूरस्य जन्म चाप्युक्तं चरितं च माहात्मनः
The birth of Śūra and the deeds of that great soul are also told.
वासुदेवस्य देव क्यां विष्णोरमिततेजसः
The divine acts of Vāsudeva, the immeasurably radiant Viṣṇu, are recounted.
देवासुरे समुत्पन्ने विष्णुना स्त्रीवधे कृते
When the gods and demons arose, Viṣṇu performed the slaying of a woman.
भृगुश्चोत्थापयामास दिव्यां शुक्रस्य मातरम्
And Bhṛgu caused the divine mother of Śukra to rise.
नारसिहप्रभृतयः कीर्त्यन्ते पापनाशनाः
The Narasiṃha and others are mentioned, destroyers of sin.
वरप्रदान कृत्तेन यत्र शर्वस्तवः कृतः
Where, by granting boons, the hymn to Śarva was composed.

The hospitality of Vibrarṣa was divided sevenfold, based on righteousness.
हरवंशयशःस्पर्शः शन्तनोर्वीर्यशब्दनम्
The touch of the glory of the lineage of Hara, and the fame of Śantanu's valor.
अनागतानांसंघानां प्रभूणां चोपवर्णनम्
And the description of the future hosts of mighty ones.
नैमित्तिकाः प्राकृतिका यथैवात्यन्तिकाः स्मृताः
The occasional, the natural, and likewise the ultimate are remembered.
अनादृष्टिर्भास्करस्य घोरः संवर्त्तकानलः
The disappearance of the sun, and the terrible fire of dissolution.
भुवादीनां च लोकानां सप्तानां चोपवर्णनम्
And the description of the seven worlds, beginning with the earth.
