हिरण्यनाभस् त्वं देवस् त्वं शशी त्वं प्रजापतिः अनिर्देश्यवपुस् त्वं वै त्वं यमस् त्वं सुरारिहा
You are golden-naveled, you are the god, you are the moon, you are the lord of creatures; you are of indescribable form, you are Yama, you are the slayer of the gods’ enemies.
त्वं च संकर्षणो देवस् त्वं कर्ता त्वं सनातनः त्वं वासुदेवो ऽमेयात्मा त्वम् एव गुणवर्जितः
You are Sankarshana, the god, you are the creator, you are eternal; you are Vasudeva, of immeasurable self, you alone are free from qualities.
त्वं ज्येष्ठस् त्वं वरिष्ठस् त्वं त्वं सहिष्णुश् च माधवः सहस्रशीर्षा त्वं देवस् त्वम् अव्यक्तः सहस्रदृक्
You are the eldest, you are the most excellent, you are patient and Madhava; you are the thousand-headed god, you are the unmanifest, you are the thousand-eyed.
सहस्रपादस् त्वं देवस् त्वं विराट् त्वं सुरप्रभुः त्वम् एव तिष्ठसे भूयो देवदेव दशाङ्गुलः
You are the thousand-footed god, you are the cosmic form, you are the lord of the gods; you alone stand again, O god of gods, ten fingers in extent.
यद् भूतं तत् त्वम् एवोक्तः पुरुषः शक्र उत्तमः यद् भाव्यं तत् त्वम् ईशानस् त्वम् ऋतस् त्वं तथामृतः
Whatever has been, that is declared to be you, O supreme person, O mighty Indra; whatever will be, that you are, you are the lord, you are truth, you are also immortality.
त्वत्तो रोहत्य् अयं लोको महीयांस् त्वम् अनुत्तमः त्वं ज्यायान् पुरुषस् त्वं च त्वं देव दशधा स्थितः
From you this world arises, you are the greatest, unsurpassed; you are the superior person, and you, O god, exist in ten forms.
विश्वभूतश् चतुर्भागो नवभागो ऽमृतो दिवि नवभागो ऽन्तरिक्षस्थः पौरुषेयः सनातनः
You are the universe-being in four parts, nine parts are immortal in heaven; nine parts dwell in the mid-space, eternal and belonging to the person.
भागद्वयं च भूसंस्थं चतुर्भागो ऽप्य् अभूद् इह त्वत्तो यज्ञाः संभवन्ति जगतो वृष्टिकारणम्
Two parts are established on earth, and four parts also exist here; from you sacrifices arise, which are the cause of rain for the world.
त्वत्तो विराट् समुत्पन्नो जगतो हृदि यः पुमान् सो ऽतिरिच्यत भूतेभ्यस् तेजसा यशसा श्रिया
From you the cosmic person Virat was born, who abides in the heart of the world; he surpassed the beings in brilliance, fame, and splendor.
त्वत्तः सुराणाम् आहारः पृषदाज्यम् अजायत ग्राम्यारण्याश् चौषधयस् त्वत्तः पशुमृगादयः
From you the food of the gods, clarified butter, was produced; from you came the cultivated and wild plants, and from you the cattle, deer, and others.
ध्येयध्यानपरस् त्वं च कृतवान् असि चौषधीः त्वं देवदेव सप्तास्य कालाख्यो दीप्तविग्रहः
You, intent on meditation and the object of meditation, created the plants; you, O god of gods, are the seven-mouthed one called Time, of blazing form.
जङ्गमाजङ्गमं सर्वं जगद् एतच् चराचरम् त्वत्तः सर्वम् इदं जातं त्वयि सर्वं प्रतिष्ठितम्
All that moves and does not move, this entire world, mobile and immobile, has arisen from you; in you all is established.
अनिरुद्धस् त्वं माधवस् त्वं प्रद्युम्नः सुरारिहा देव सर्वसुरश्रेष्ठ सर्वलोकपरायण
You are Aniruddha, you are Mādhava, you are Pradyumna, destroyer of the gods’ foes; O god, supreme among all the gods, refuge of all the worlds.
त्राहि माम् अरविन्दाक्ष नारायण नमो ऽस्तु ते नमस् ते भगवन् विष्णो नमस् ते पुरुषोत्तम
Protect me, O lotus-eyed one; O Nārāyaṇa, obeisance to you; obeisance to you, O blessed Viṣṇu; obeisance to you, highest of persons.
नमस् ते सर्वलोकेश नमस् ते कमलालय गुणालय नमस् ते ऽस्तु नमस् ते ऽस्तु गुणाकर
Obeisance to you, lord of all worlds; obeisance to you, abode of lotuses; abode of virtues, obeisance to you, obeisance to you, treasure-house of virtues.
वासुदेव नमस् ते ऽस्तु नमस् ते ऽस्तु सुरोत्तम जनार्दन नमस् ते ऽस्तु नमस् ते ऽस्तु सनातन
Obeisance to you, Vāsudeva; obeisance to you, best of the gods; O Janārdana, obeisance to you, obeisance to you, the eternal one.
नमस् ते योगिनां गम्य योगावास नमो ऽस्तु ते गोपते श्रीपते विष्णो नमस् ते ऽस्तु मरुत्पते
Obeisance to you, who are attainable by yogis, who dwell in yoga; obeisance to you, lord of the cowherds, lord of Śrī, O Viṣṇu, obeisance to you, lord of the Maruts.
जगत्पते जगत्सूते नमस् ते ज्ञानिनां पते दिवस्पते नमस् ते ऽस्तु नमस् ते ऽस्तु महीपते
Obeisance to you, lord of the world, source of the world; obeisance to you, lord of the wise; lord of heaven, obeisance to you, obeisance to you, lord of the earth.
नमस् ते मधुहन्त्रे च नमस् ते पुष्करेक्षण कैटभघ्न नमस् ते ऽस्तु सुब्रह्मण्य नमो ऽस्तु ते
Obeisance to you, slayer of Madhu; obeisance to you, lotus-eyed one; slayer of Kaiṭabha, obeisance to you, O Subrahmaṇya, obeisance to you.
नमो ऽस्तु ते महामीन श्रुतिपृष्ठधराच्युत समुद्रसलिलक्षोभ पद्मजाह्लादकारिणे
Obeisance to you, great fish, bearer of the Vedas on your back, O Acyuta, who agitated the ocean’s waters and brought delight to the lotus-born one.
अश्वशीर्ष महाघोण महापुरुषविग्रह मधुकैटभहन्त्रे च नमस् ते तुरगानन
O horse-headed one, great-necked, with the form of the great person, slayer of Madhu and Kaiṭabha, obeisance to you, O one with a horse’s face.
महाकमठभोगाय पृथिव्युद्धरणाय च विधृताद्रिस्वरूपाय महाकूर्माय ते नमः
Obeisance to the great tortoise, whose body is like a mighty turtle, who raised up the earth, who took the form of the mountain-bearer.
नमो महावराहाय पृथिव्युद्धारकारिणे नमश् चादिवराहाय विश्वरूपाय वेधसे
Obeisance to the great boar, who lifted up the earth; and obeisance to the primeval boar, the all-formed, the creator.
नमो ऽनन्ताय सूक्ष्माय मुख्याय च वराय च परमाणुस्वरूपाय योगिगम्याय ते नमः
Obeisance to the infinite, the subtle, the chief, and the excellent; whose form is atomic, who is attainable by yogis—obeisance to you.
तस्मै नमः कारणकारणाय योगीन्द्रवृत्तनिलयाय सुदुर्विदाय क्षीरार्णवाश्रितमहाहिसुतल्पगाय तुभ्यं नमः कनकरत्नसुकुण्डलाय
Obeisance to that cause of causes, whose abode is the conduct of the lords of yoga, who is extremely difficult to know, who reclines on the great serpent in the ocean of milk, and who wears golden, jewel-studded earrings.
इत्थं स्तुतस् तदा तेन प्रीतः प्रोवाच माधवः क्षिप्रं ब्रूहि मुनिश्रेष्ठ मत्तो यद् अभिवाञ्छसि
Thus praised at that time, Mādhava, pleased, spoke: 'Quickly speak, best of sages, whatever you desire from me.'
संसारे ऽस्मिञ् जगन्नाथ दुस्तरे लोमहर्षणे अनित्ये दुःखबहुले कदलीदलसंनिभे
In this world, O lord of the universe, which is hard to cross, hair-raising, impermanent, full of suffering, and like a plantain leaf,
निराश्रये निरालम्बे जलबुद्बुदचञ्चले सर्वोपद्रवसंयुक्ते दुस्तरे चातिभैरवे
Without support, without foundation, as fickle as a water bubble, beset with all calamities, hard to cross and exceedingly terrifying,
भ्रमामि सुचिरं कालं मायया मोहितस् तव न चान्तम् अभिगच्छामि विषयासक्तमानसः
I wander for a long time, deluded by your māyā, my mind attached to sense-objects, and I do not reach the end.
त्वाम् अहं चाद्य देवेश संसारभयपीडितः गतो ऽस्मि शरणं कृष्ण माम् उद्धर भवार्णवात्
Today, O lord of the gods, afflicted by the fear of saṃsāra, I have come to you for refuge, O Kṛṣṇa; lift me up from the ocean of becoming.
